Job description

This position is Hybrid and eligible for telework up to five (5) days a week, in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

Under direction of the Information Technology (IT) Supervisor II, the IT Specialist I in the Department of General Services, Enterprise Technology Solutions in the Custom Application Solutions section, within the Software Engineering domain, will participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle and be responsible for completion of software and documentation deliverables.

This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code. The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests. The appointee is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment and once per year.

  1. Please describe your experience programming in C# .NET Framework, SSRS, T-SQL, Angular (v2+) using TypeScript, REST API, and HTML5 on complex systems.
  2. Please describe your experience with industry SDLC methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, etc.). Please provide a specific example of a project.
  3. Imagine a key deployment fails just before a deadline. Please describe what immediate steps you would take and how do you mitigate risk in the future?

Requirements

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Proficient in C#, T-SQL, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, component architecture, services, routing, and RxJS
  • Experience with .NET MVC, Web API, building responsive UIs and cross-browser compatible layouts,
  • Strong skills in writing stored procedures, views, and functions, REST API integration using Angular's HttpClient, and with Reactive Forms and Template-driven Forms
  • Strong experience with Angular (v2+) using TypeScript, optimize queries, using indexes, and joins
  • Experience with Windows Authentication using Active Directory, using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), designing and deploying SSRS report,
  • Strong knowledge of LINQ (Language Integrated Query), HTTP methods, CORS, cookies, and status codes
  • Understanding of OOP (Object-Oriented Programming) principles, relational schema design and data normalization, report datasets, RDL file structure, Report Builder
  • Familiarity with .NET Framework, integrating SSRS reports, Angular CLI, npm, UI frameworks
  • Ability to create parameterized, drill-down, and linked reports, troubleshoot and optimize report performance
