Henry Schein One is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead engineering teams building Dentrix, the industry's most trusted and awarded dental practice management system. This individual will drive excellence across engineering, quality assurance, and product delivery, while fostering a high-performance, people-first culture.
You'll play a key role in aligning engineering with strategic objectives, enabling delivery through an empowered engineering team, and ensuring security, compliance, and reliability at scale. You will lead engineers to execute projects through the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), with cross-functional collaboration across product, architecture, and business leadership. What You Will Do
- Lead and grow an engineering team delivering mission-critical software to dental practices and their patients.
- Directly oversee a team of various levels of engineers (onshore and nearshore) and influence engineering practices, technical execution, and outcomes across the organization.
- Drive clarity, accountability, and alignment through effective communication of goals, priorities, and status to team members and stakeholders.
- Support hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and career development to attract and retain top engineering talent.
- Establish and ensure adherence to standards for software engineering, analysis, QA, and project delivery.
- Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with Product and UX to deliver customer-centric solutions that align with strategic initiatives.
- Monitor and manage project scope, forecasts, risks, and budgets.
- Promote mature DevOps practices, continuous integration/deployment, and test-driven development.
Travel/Physical Demands
- Travel typically less than 10%.
- Office environment with no special physical demands required.
Technologies We Use
- Languages & Frameworks: C, C#, C+, .NET 4.7.
- Frontend: WinForms, WPF, WinUI.
- Database: MS SQL Server.
- DevOps & Tools: GitLab and Jira.
- Client Server Architecture.
- Experience with REST APIs, Java and AWS a plus.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive software development experience with our tech stack, with 1+ years in people management.
- Proven success leading distributed or hybrid engineering teams at scale.
- Excellent knowledge of SDLC, including Agile methodologies and CI/CD practices.
- Ability to lead through influence, resolve conflict, and build consensus across functions.
- Clear, empathetic communicator who thrives in collaborative environments.
- Analytical, strategic thinker who can balance tech debt, innovation, and delivery.

This position will be remote within the United States with a preference to candidates in Utah that are able to come into the office 1-2 days per week., The posted range for this position is $120,000 - $165,000, which is the expected starting base salary range for an employee new to the role.
