Job description

We are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to own the cloud and platform infrastructure powering a high-throughput, mission-critical real-time operations system. This is not a narrow SRE or ops-only role. You will architect, build, and operate core systems while working cross-functionally with backend, data, and field engineering teams.

The platform must remain fast, observable, and fault-tolerant as the company scales globally. You will make foundational decisions around infrastructure strategy as the company expands into autonomy and international operations. If you obsess over reliability and high availability, thrive owning large architectural surfaces, and want your work to power real-world physical systems - this is the role.

This position is in-person 5 days per week in Los Angeles, CA. Candidates must be based in LA or willing to relocate.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own the core cloud infrastructure: environments, compute orchestration, networking, storage, and platform services
  • Design and build resilient, scalable distributed systems for high-throughput, mission-critical workloads
  • Implement and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code, automated provisioning, and repeatable deployments across environments
  • Drive observability across the stack - logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards, and alerting
  • Define and enforce reliability, performance, and availability standards for all production systems
  • Build and own CI/CD pipelines that support rapid iteration with safety and confidence
  • Improve platform security including identity, access control, service hardening, and incident response
  • Partner with backend, data, and field engineering to incorporate operational constraints into architecture decisions
  • Make foundational infrastructure strategy decisions as the platform expands globally

Requirements

Do you have experience in Virtual Private Clouds?, * 4+ years of experience as an infrastructure engineer building and operating production systems

  • Deep AWS experience: VPCs, networking, container orchestration, load balancing, compute, and storage
  • Genuine ownership of high-level system architecture AND hands-on work in the code
  • Background from reputable large tech companies or strong, well-funded startups
  • Experience architecting or operating multi-region cloud deployments with isolated/dedicated environment stacks
  • Deep, hands-on Terraform experience - building production-grade cloud infrastructure from scratch
  • Strong familiarity with distributed systems, Docker, observability tooling (Grafana), and CI/CD pipelines
  • Solid networking fundamentals
  • Highly autonomous - able to drive initiatives with minimal structure
  • Career stability - consistent, extended tenure is important for this team

This Role Is For You If

  • You love building the invisible foundation that keeps complex systems running
  • Reliability, high availability, and performance are things you obsess over
  • You enjoy working closely with real-world operational systems, not just abstract cloud workloads
  • You thrive owning large architectural surfaces that many teams depend on
  • Aviation, autonomy, and mobility excite you

About the company

We are recruiting on behalf of a fast-growing aviation technology company building the next generation of real-time airfield operations infrastructure. Their platform is mission-critical, globally deployed, and expanding rapidly into autonomy and mobility. This is a small, high-caliber engineering team making foundational infrastructure decisions that will shape the future of how airfields operate.
