Job description

Avaloq is seeking an experienced Technical Solution Consultant to join the Global Solutions Consulting organisation.

The role is responsible for end-to-end solution design, commercial support and RFP/RFI execution for complex banking opportunities across private banking, wealth management and universal banking clients.

The successful candidate will act as a trusted technical and solution advisor to clients and internal stakeholders, owning solution integrity across functional, technical, commercial and delivery dimensions.

Your key tasks

Sales & Client Engagement

  • Act as a customer-facing solution authority supporting Avaloq sales opportunities primarily within Europe and North America. Involvement in other regions may be necessary when requried.
  • Lead or contribute to client workshops, solution presentations and due-diligence sessions, both remote and on-site.
  • Translate client business, regulatory and IT requirements into viable Avaloq-based solution architectures.
  • Act as a trusted advisor for senior client stakeholders, including CIO, COO, Head of Operations and Enterprise Architecture.

RFP, RFI & Deal Support

  • Manage and deliver RFP / RFI / Technical Questionnaire responses with high quality, consistency and regulatory defensibility.
  • Own solution positioning, differentiators and assumptions, ensuring clarity between standard, configurable and custom capabilities.
  • Prepare deal gate material (solution scope, complexity, risks, assumptions, cost drivers) in alignment with Sales and Delivery.
  • Ensure all solution proposals comply with Avaloq commercial, legal, risk and governance frameworks.

Solution Architecture & Design

  • Design end-to-end solutions covering:
  • Avaloq Core Platform (ACP)
  • Digital Channels (Web / RM Workplace)
  • Community API, integration and messaging patterns
  • Data, analytics, reporting and regulatory tooling
  • Hosting models: SaaS, BPaaS, managed services, on-premises / client-hosted
  • Define non-functional requirements including:
  • Security, IAM, data protection and regulatory compliance
  • High availability, DR, performance and scalability
  • Operational model, support and change processes
  • Partner closely with Delivery, Product Management, Hosting and Security teams to ensure solution feasibility and integrity.

Internal Stakeholder Management

  • Act as primary solution Point-of-Contact for internal deal-making teams, coordinating input from Product, Architecture, Security, Legal and Delivery.
  • Manage internal alignments, reviews and approvals, ensuring auditability and traceability of decisions.
  • Follow and enforce internal processes, governance and handover disciplines to Delivery.

Requirements

Domain & Industry

  • Strong experience in private banking, wealth management or financial services IT.
  • Solid understanding of banking operations, regulatory environments (e.g. FINMA, ECB, MAS, FCA) and IT controls.

Technology Expertise

The candidate must demonstrate hands-on experience with technologies commonly used within Avaloq solutions, including:

  • Core banking platforms (Avaloq or comparable tier-1 systems)
  • API-based integration, messaging and event-driven architectures
  • Digital banking channels and client-facing platforms
  • Cloud and hosting concepts (OCI, AWS, Azure, hybrid models)
  • Strong understanding of Kubernetes including:
  • Container orchestration concepts, networking and security
  • High availability, resilience and scaling patterns
  • Operational concerns: monitoring, logging, upgrades and lifecycle management
  • Experience positioning and designing solutions running on:
  • Managed Kubernetes services (e.g. OpenShift, EKS, AKS or equivalent)
  • Hybrid or on-premises Kubernetes environments
  • Ability to articulate Kubernetes value propositions, risks and operational implications clearly to clients and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Security architecture, IAM, data protection and compliance controls
  • Infrastructure sizing, performance and high-availability design
  • Modern enterprise technologies (Kubernetes, containerisation, observability, CI/CD)

Professional Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, suitable for C-suite, regulators and client decision-makers.
  • Strong presentation and storytelling ability, translating complexity into clear, defensible narratives.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple parallel engagements under time pressure.
  • High level of autonomy, accountability and professionalism.
  • Ability to operate confidently in ambiguous, high-stakes deal environments., * Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent experience.
  • Typically 7-10+ years experience in solution consulting, pre-sales or architecture roles.
  • Prior experience working in international, matrix-organised environments is strongly preferred.

Language & Cultural Capability

  • Fluent English is mandatory; additional European languages are strongly preferred, particularly:
  • German (highly desirable for Swiss and DACH clients)
  • French (Switzerland / France / Benelux)
  • Italian or Spanish (southern Europe coverage)
  • Ability to operate comfortably in multilingual, multicultural client environments, including adapting communication style for different regions.
  • Experience working with regulated European financial institutions is a strong advantage.
