An opportunity for a Ground Mission System Software Architect has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space, Getafe (Madrid).
The selected candidate will join the Electronic Warfare and Ground Mission Systems team. Our department is responsible for the entire Mission Management cycle (preparation, planning, and debriefing) for Combat & Transport aircraft.
As an Architect, you will be the technical reference in the design and evolution of our software assets. You will lead the definition of complex systems and ensure that our technical solutions support the aircraft operations from the earliest design phases to in-service support, driving innovation and technological excellence., The main tasks of the jobholder will be:
- Define and maintain the Software Architecture for Ground Mission System projects, ensuring scalability, performance, and alignment with the product portfolio.
- Lead the technological roadmap by evaluating and selecting the best frameworks, tools, and standards (SOA, containers, cloud-native) to fulfill business requirements.
- Establish technical standards and best practices (Clean Code, Design Patterns, Refactoring) to be implemented by the development teams.
- Design common software assets and architectural patterns to maximize reuse and efficiency across all projects in the Electronic Warfare area.
- Translate high-level business requirements into detailed technical architectures, covering functional analysis and non-functional requirements (security, reliability, etc.).
- Provide strategic technical support to system-level activities, including architecture analysis, validation strategies, and integration of new technologies like Big Data or ML.
Requirements

- Education: Aeronautical, Telecommunications, or Computer Science Engineering degree.
- Experience: Extensive experience (at least 5-8 years) in Software Engineering with a proven track record in Software Architecture design.
- Technical knowledge:
- Deep expertise in Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
- Mastery of Object-Oriented design and programming (C#, Java).
- Advanced knowledge of architectural patterns and Application Lifecycle Management (Azure/TFS).
- Soft skills: Strategic thinking, strong leadership to guide development teams, and excellent networking skills to work in a multicultural environment.
- Languages: Advanced level in English.
- Valuable / Nice to have: Knowledge of Electronic Warfare domains, Big Data/Machine Learning frameworks, and experience with Jetbrains or Visual Studio suites.
