Job description
An established organisation is growing its internal platform engineering team and is looking for an experienced Azure Platform Engineer to help build and scale a large analytics environment used by a wide community of internal users.
You'll join a sizeable, international engineering function made up of platform engineers, DevOps specialists, architects, analysts, and product owners. The culture is collaborative, diverse, and engineering-led, with a strong focus on doing things properly rather than quickly.
What You'll Be Doing
This is a hands-on platform engineering role. You'll be building and improving the environment that enables data and analytics teams to do their work, rather than building models or pipelines yourself.
Responsibilities include:
- Designing scalable, secure, and high-performing platform solutions on Azure, with Databricks as a core component.
- Automating infrastructure provisioning and management using Terraform.
- Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, ideally in Azure DevOps.
- Containerising and deploying services using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Tuning performance of compute, storage, and data pipelines to keep things efficient and cost-effective.
- Working closely with stakeholders to translate their needs into practical platform capabilities.
- Keeping on top of the Azure ecosystem and feeding improvements back into the roadmap.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Terraform?, Must-haves
- 7+ years in a Platform Engineer, Cloud Engineer, or similar infrastructure-focused role.
- Strong hands-on Azure Cloud experience, including Azure Databricks.
- Solid Infrastructure as Code skills, with Terraform preferred.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, ideally Azure DevOps.
- Working knowledge of containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
- A collaborative, proactive mindset and good communication skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Python scripting experience.
- Microsoft Azure certifications or equivalent.
- Background working on large-scale or regulated platforms.
