Job description

You will be a Cyber Software Engineer for a research and development team which is responsible for investigating and exploiting the newest technological advances to resolve complex problems.

What You Will Be Doing

As a Cyber Software Engineer you will combine deep systems expertise with modern security-by-design practices to build robust, cloud-enabled, and hardware-integrated solutions. You'll work in an agile environment, partnering with cross-functional teams and customers to deliver secure, high-performance software from concept through production.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Design, develop, and maintain secure software codebases-leveraging innovative approaches to tackle complex, mission-critical challenges and break new ground where existing solutions fall short, delivering novel capabilities that advance our customer's strategic objectives.
  • Incorporate security considerations throughout the software development lifecycle (threat modeling, hardening, code reviews, Security centric protocols).
  • Researching and developing new software technologies with a cyber lens to resolve complex problems.
  • Collaborating with customers throughout the development life-cycle to ensure innovative solutions meet their needs.
  • Contributing to a team environment that values innovation, creativity, and teamwork.
  • Participating in the development of outstanding team culture, quickly adapting to evolving customer requirements.
  • Utilizing curiosity, dedication, and a one-team focus to enable the most creative solutions to meet or excced customer expectations.
  • Mentoring junior engineers, sharing knowledge, and fostering a culture of innovation, teamwork, and continuous learning.
  • Researching emerging technologies (e.g., edge-AI, serverless, rapid-prototyping tools) and evaluating their applicability to current security challenges.

Requirements

Eligibility MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - The selected candidate must possess an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility to start., * Active TS/SCI clearance required prior to start.

  • Fluent in two or more programming languages, e.g.: C/C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Typescript, Python, Ruby

  • Expertise with one or more operating systems: Linux, Unix, macOS, Windows, Android, iOS, iPadOS

  • Hands-on experience using configuration-management tools such as: Git, SVN, TFS, Mercurial

  • Formal education or professional experience in a relevant field: Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline Desired Skills: Experience in one or more of the following will set you apart:

  • Custom hardware development

  • Exploit analysis

  • Wireless technologies

  • Mobile application development

  • Containerization

  • Cloud computing

  • Automated testing

  • Continuous integration/continuous deployment

  • Rapid prototyping tools and techniques

  • IP networking

  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies.

  • Proficient in Cyber security

  • Experience in Linux kernel development

  • Knowledge of driver to hardware interactions

  • Experience with Secure Configuration/Hardening of Secure Information Systems

  • Experience with SIEM tools

  • Experience with Agile Methodologies

  • Knowledge of securing cloud network technologies, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Provider (GCP) or Microsoft Azure #LMSpaceCyberEng #LMSpaceSoftwareEng Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration. Clearance Level: TS/SCI, Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits. Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $128,200 - $225,975. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays.
