Job description
The Systems Administrator installs, configures, secures, and maintains Windows enterprise server environments within an Active Directory environment, ensuring system reliability and supporting enterprise applications. The role manages enterprise-level software and virtualization platforms, responds to service outages, and troubleshoots systems and applications. Additional responsibilities include maintaining technical documentation, coordinating with vendors, supporting network configurations and data requests, providing staff training, updating IT policies, assisting with projects, evaluating new technologies, performing light scripting, and completing other duties as assigned., 25% - Server Administration
- Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual server environments
- Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning
- Apply patches, updates, and upgrades to operating systems and hardware
- Administer virtualization platforms, including VMwar
20% - Security & Access Management
- Administer user accounts, permissions, and group policies within Active Directory
- Implement and maintain system security controls and best practices
- Monitor systems for vulnerabilities and security threats
- Support endpoint protection solutions systems
15% - Incident Response & System Reliability
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and system issues
- Respond to and document service outages and disruptions
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Ensure system availability and reliability standards are maintained
10% - Enterprise Software Management
- Install, configure, and support enterprise systems and applications
- Deploy and manage software using tools such as Microsoft SCCM
- Perform system upgrades, patching, and license management
10% - Documentation & Knowledge Management
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and knowledge base articles
- Document system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides
- Assist in the creation of training materials for staff and end users
10% - Planning & Continuous Improvement
- Participate in infrastructure planning, upgrades, and system enhancements
- Recommend improvements for performance, scalability, and security
- Evaluate and test new technologies and solutions
10% - Other Duties as Assigned
- Perform additional duties to support departmental and organizational needs
- Participate in special projects and cross-functional initiatives
- Adapt to evolving technologies and business requirements, * Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving: http://www.maricopa.edu/legal/rmi/vehicle.htm#requirements
- Travel to campus during the interview/selection process will be at the candidate's own expense
- Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations
- May require numerous evenings or weekends
- May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen

Requirements
Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in information technology or related field and two years of systems and application administration experience in area related to assignment., An equivalent combination of the conferred degree, education, certification and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered., A. One (1) years or more managing and supporting virtual infrastructures in an enterprise environment
B. Experience with troubleshooting and resolving server and workstation application issues in an AD enterprise environment.
C. Experience within Unix / Linux environment including: System/application, configuration, trouble-shooting, patching, and securing.
D. Experience in a higher education environment
E. One (1) year of relevant full-time MCCCD experience during the previous two years
