Job description

governmental organization located in Grand Rapids, MN that provides development and support of software applications, and hosting/operational support for member counties.

MCIS is searching for a programmer who will be responsible and driven to:

  • Work as part of a collaborative cross-functional team
  • Contribute to technical design of applications based on business and functional requirements
  • Assist with the definition of project deliverables
  • Design, develop, and test program logic and processes.
  • Troubleshoots and debugs existing code and systems to identify and resolve issues
  • Adhere to software development standards and guidelines.
  • Learn, explore, and utilize new technologies
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Well rounded analytical and collaborative skills.

  • Knowledge of core programming concepts, such as but not limited to structured coding, database design, technical documentation, change management, and so forth.

  • Able to demonstrate skills in the following or similar technologies:

  • Programming tools such as Java, JavaScript, Node.js, PhP, C+, RPGILE/free, CSS, HTML, C+, VB, SQL

  • Relational Databases, such as DB2 and SQL

  • Soap-Rest Web Services

  • Apache, Tomcat, Websphere

  • Eclipse, Rational Developer, VS Code

  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations

  • Excellent listening skills, self-starter, assertive and thorough

  • Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Basic understanding of networking concepts

  • Able to meet deadlines, deal effectively with variety of variables, and adapt to changing priorities

  • PC Experience using MS Windows and Word, Databases, Spreadsheets, etc.

Training and Experience Requires a minimum of an A.A. degree in Computer Programming, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Information Technology, and experience and/or education involved software application programming in a PC and/or server environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as those listed above. Experience with the "IBM Power Systems running i" servers is desired.

  • Positions full salary range, including longevity pay is , Grade 3 with 12 steps, $61,173 - $86,325
