Job description
The Applications Engineer is a technical resource for the dedicated, sales force, and is responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process. Working in conjunction with the Trumpf Huettinger sales team and R&D departments of the product centers, as technical advisor and product advocate, the Applications Engineer must be able to identify and provide reliable solutions for all technical issues to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process. The Application Engineer must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales cycle and cooperate closely with the experts of the product centers., * Maintain expert level of product knowledge and industry applications - e.g. Semiconductor, Display, Optical.
- Articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users
- Provide design and specification development support to consultants, integrators, and distributors.
- Respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
- Listen, understand, and convey customer requirements to internal stakeholders; eventually leading to a client consult and presentation of proposed design and technical concepts
- Perform technical/ product training for sales people, estimators, and engineers at client accounts
- Assist in the design and development of new products and tools necessary to progress business objectives
- Through coordination and cooperating efforts, communicate and review client technical roadmaps to products centers and ensure there is a transparent path to 1) allow TRUMPF Huettinger development projects and new technical concepts to hit windows of opportunity and 2) consistently meet client's technical objectives and expectations.
- Maintain accurate records of client accounts, opportunities, quotes, projects, contacts and correspondence in company approved databases
- Provide status reporting of ongoing projects and future projects.
- Travel to project sites to perform start-up, integration, and training services
Requirements
- Experience of 3+ years in similar engineering positions
- Read and understand vacuum system architecture, including mechanical and electrical blueprints; and have a basic understanding of electrical and control systems
- A basic understanding of systems/network communications technology - Ethernet, DeviceNet, Profibus, etc.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant administrative and industry software
- Strong communication, Interpersonal and organizational skills
- Necessitates local travel to customer sites; and other U.S. and European travel (25%) when required
- Customer Service or Sales Support experience.
- Proven Project Management skills.
- Application Programming Experience, Bachelor's degree or higher strongly preferred in the area of Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Material Sciences. An equivalent combination of education and aforementioned experience would be considered. Desirable industry experience includes semiconductor wafer fab equipment, vacuum coating and plasma processes, power supplies (DC, AC, and RF), and induction heating., TRUMPF is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Benefits & conditions
This is a salaried position, and assuming the person has met the proper criteria, may be eligible for an annual performance bonus. Base Salary Range: $86,356 to $139,335
