We offer flexible scheduling that helps employees maintain a healthy work-life balance., The Texas Comptroller's Office is seeking an experienced and motivated professional to join the Administrative Applications Section within the Information Technology Division. This position provides an opportunity to contribute to the design, development, testing, and implementation of enterprise level software solutions that support critical agency operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to legacy & modern technologies, continuous learning, and apply industry best practices. In this role, the selected individual will work closely with internal and external stakeholders in an Agile environment to understand business needs, architect scalable solutions, and perform hands on development, including unit testing and integration activities. Responsibilities also include leading small to medium sized technology initiatives, conducting architecture and technology research on emerging tools and methodologies, and recommending improvements that enhance development efficiency and operational reliability. The position further involves close collaboration with DevOps teams to enable CI/CD pipelines, adherence to established SDLC processes from inception through deployment, and participation in production support and post release maintenance. This role is well suited for a professional who is dedicated to delivering high quality, secure software systems and contributing to the agency's long term technology vision.
Work Hours
Work hours are 8:00AM to 5:00PM, 40-hour week, Monday - Friday. Occasionally work overtime and/or additional hours. Hours may change based on business need.
Teleworking may be considered if certain working conditions are met. The candidate must have permanent residency within the state of Texas and must be able to meet in office requirements, which can vary among different sections (i.e., report to office 1 day/month, 3 days/week, etc.). Travel reimbursements are not provided for teleworking, * Performs programming for software modifications per the technical and functional requirements using current technologies, tools and techniques; performs unit and integration testing by coding and debugging software solutions; researches new technology trends and recommends scalable solutions to the agency; implements software solutions by adopting industry best practices and following CPA's IT standards/practices, architecture and vision; develops systems documentation and automates development processes as needed
- Analyzes software applications requirements and change requests; designs and documents software solutions; writes systems documentations and process flows as needed; develops software for operational efficiencies; creates new processes/procedures to increase developer efficiency; coordinates small to medium scale projects; research new technology spectrum in the industry; performs Proof-Of-concepts and provides recommendations to the department; train junior team members
- Performs testing, triaging and preparing test data to aid software testing; interacts with technical and non-technical staff in the coordination of changes and system implementation.
- Production support, incident management and resolution including on-call rotation support
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Requirements
Do you have experience in Web development?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree.
- Six (6) years of work experience in data analysis, designing reports in any reporting tool
- Six (6) years of work experience in supporting applications with a relational database.
- Six (6) years of work experience in development with Microsoft.NET technology.
- Five (5) years of work experience leading a data, reporting and web development project(s)
- Five (5) years of work experience analyzing data, building reports in SSRS, PowerBI/Tableau or other reporting tools
- Six (6) years of work experience in problem analysis, resolution, and testing.
- Three (3) years of work experience using a structured Agile Software Development Methodology., * Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Information Systems.
- Five (5) years of work experience with SSRS and SSIS OR any BI tool
- Five (5) years of experience with website development in Microsoft.NET environment (MVC based .NET development) with databases SQL Server and/or DB2
- Five (5) years of experience in writing and debugging SQL Server stored procedures.
- Three (3) years of experience in Agile and DevOps methodology as a developer.
- Two (2) years of experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Development tools preferably Jenkin, BitBucket, SonarQube, Git
- One (1) year experience with complex applications security requirements
Substitutions:
One (1) additional year of experience in .NET development work may substitute for thirty semester hours of educational requirement with a maximum substitution of 120 semester hours (four years).
Licenses/Certifications (Preferred):
Scrum Developer certification from an accredited organization, An applicant must be eligible to work in the United States to be hired at the Comptroller's office and must remain eligible, without sponsorship or any assurance of financial or other assistance from this agency, during the term of their employment.
