Job description

The Ion endoluminal system is Intuitive's robotic platform for minimally invasive biopsy in the peripheral lung, with an initial goal of improving the early diagnosis of lung cancer. Ion's Data team is responsible for developing analytical tools that generate insights and drive decision making for internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate in this role will be a contributor to a high-performing data science team to develop data models, analytics, and related applications.   • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and business units to understand and communicate Ion's needs and goals.

  • Develop, improve, and maintain robust data models for transforming data from log files and event streams.

  • Ensure that our data models support our analytics and reporting objectives.

  • Design predictive models and algorithms to derive insights and metrics from large datasets

  • Contribute to technical requirements definition, prototyping, development, testing, and release.

  • Communicate findings to stakeholders through visualizations, dashboards, reports, and presentations.

  • Champion best practices in software development, including code reviews, coding conventions, testing frameworks, and design patterns.

  • Assess and recommend new tools and technologies that make the data team more effective.

Requirements

Required Skills and Experience (Specific skills, knowledge, and experience that an individual must possess in order to successfully perform in job)

  • Experience in working with production-level data pipelines.

  • Experience in building data models to support analytics, including metrics and KPIs.

  • Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and related languages.

  • Experience in using AI tools to accelerate software development and data analysis.

  • Experience with platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, and dbt.

  • Solid understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and data visualization techniques.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Required Education and Training (As applicable - Specific education and training that an individual must possess in order to successfully perform in job)

  • Master's or PhD degree in computer science or related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in data science.
