Job description

We are seeking a mid-level Design Engineer II with a strong motorsports focus to support mechanical system design and development. This role involves working on product and vehicle systems from early concept through detailed design, collaborating within a project team under the guidance of a design lead. The ideal candidate brings a hands-on engineering approach, combining CAD design, structural analysis (FEA), and system-level thinking to support innovative, performance-driven solutions. This position includes both office-based engineering work and occasional on-site support with customers and builds.

Key Responsibilities Design & Engineering

Develop vehicle and product system designs from concept through production Perform system physics modeling and component characterization Create 3D CAD models, assemblies, and packaging layouts Apply linear static FEA for design validation and optimization Generate detailed technical drawings and documentation (GD&T) Support test design, execution, and reporting (DVP&R) Provide regular project updates and technical presentations

Project & Customer Support

Support engineering projects using mechanical, analytical, and CAE tools Troubleshoot and resolve customer-related engineering issues Prepare technical specifications and develop testing procedures Collaborate with manufacturing, including ECR support Present findings and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders Assist in evaluating new business opportunities

Requirements

Do you have experience in Tooling design?, Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent Minimum of 3 years of relevant engineering experience Prior experience in motorsports (NASCAR strongly preferred)

Technical Skills

Proficiency in Siemens NX (or similar parametric 3D CAD tools) Experience with ANSYS (or equivalent FEA software) Understanding of full vehicle systems and subsystem interactions Experience with mechanical design, including metals, composites, and tooling Familiarity with PLM systems (e.g., Windchill) is a plus Strong knowledge of ASME Y14.5 (GD&T)

Work Environment & Expectations This role operates in a collaborative, team-based engineering environment with a mix of office and hands-on work. Engineers should be comfortable supporting shop builds and working with basic hand tools when needed. Core hours are typically 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, with flexibility required to meet project deadlines. Occasional travel may be required for customer meetings, supplier visits, or off-site testing.
