Security Engineer

• Mid-level Security Engineer to support its research-driven environment.
• This role is ideal for someone who understands how to balance security best practices while enabling innovation and flexibility for engineering and research teams.
• The team is specifically looking for an engineer who can operate autonomously, adapt to evolving environments, and work collaboratively with researchers without becoming overly process- or policy-heavy.
• The focus is on enablement and practical security solutions rather than rigid governance.

Responsibilities:

• Support and enhance system and network security initiatives across research environments
• Partner closely with researchers and engineering teams to implement practical and flexible security controls
• Assist with security tooling, vulnerability management, and security posture improvements
• Evaluate and address risks while maintaining operational agility for research teams
• Contribute to secure development and infrastructure practices within cloud and software environments
• Perform security assessments and remediation recommendations across various platforms and tools
• Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to support ongoing security initiatives

• 4-6 years of hands-on experience in Security Engineering or related cybersecurity roles

• Strong foundational knowledge of: System Security, Network Security, Security Best Practices

• Experience working in flexible, fast-paced engineering or R&D-driven environments

• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight

• Strong communication and collaboration skills with technical stakeholders

• GitHub Advanced Security, Security Scorecard, Checkmarx

• AWS security experience (highly preferred): IAM, Cloud security best practices, Security monitoring and controls within AWS environments

• Mid-level engineer who is technically hands-on and adaptable

• Comfortable operating in less rigid environments that prioritize innovation

• Not overly policy-focused or governance-heavy

• Understands how to enable teams securely without creating unnecessary blockers

• Self-driven and capable of navigating ambiguity effectively

Pay Rate: $70.00-$77.00/Hour.
