Job description
This is a challenging position in which the selected candidate has the opportunity to use his/her technical and interpersonal skills daily. The company is continuously developing applications to improve its success in today's marketplace. In addition to new development, the company maintains several applications, including the company's mission-critical Policy Administration and Management System application. This application addresses all facets of insurance company management including policy issue, policy renewal, endorsements (policy changes), billing functions, claims processing, agency management, and statistical/management reporting. Also, the company maintains its Windows-based rating tool distributed to its independent agency force using web technologies. Maintenance and revision of the policy administration system and the policy rating tool are on-going.
Future development projects are ever-evolving and include but are not limited to web-based systems, e-signature, and mobile applications. The selected candidate will be involved in several aspects of the IT function in a small organization, but the primary purpose of the position is to work with the IT Team toward completion of development projects while maintaining the current systems.
Other activities in which the selected candidate will be involved include support of a Windows Server 2022 or later network with 25 users. Support activities for these users include software installation, hardware installation, peripheral equipment installation, software troubleshooting and training. The company will provide the insurance training necessary to be highly effective in completing any and all assigned tasks.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Windows?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Minimum 2-yr degree in computer programming or related area required or equivalent experience.
- 4-yr degree preferred.
- Able to take instruction, ask questions, offer design suggestions, multi-task effectively, work independently yet be a team player.
- Flexible and willing to accept a change in priorities as necessary.
- Strong attention to detail.
- The selected candidate must show a willingness to learn new things.
- Solid oral and written communication skills.
- Solid knowledge of object-oriented design and development a must.
- Knowledge of Pascal/Delphi helpful but not required.
- Knowledge of DBase/FoxPro helpful but not required.
- Knowledge of SQL and relational database management systems required.
- Knowledge of Advantage Database Server helpful but not required.
- Knowledge of web development languages and technologies necessary.
- Solid knowledge of PC hardware desired.
- Solid knowledge of Windows operating systems required.
- Knowledge of Windows Server 2022 or later and the Windows network environment desired.
- Solid knowledge of accounting concepts and procedures helpful but not required.
- Knowledge of insurance company operations helpful but not required.
