Job description
The Data Specialist I is an entry-level to early-career role responsible for the accurate execution of foundational data ingestion and operational processes. This position plays a critical role in supporting both client-facing and internal data needs by loading, organizing, validating, and maintaining healthcare data from multiple sources. Working closely with senior team members, the Data Specialist I develops hands-on experience with Lumelight's proprietary tools, healthcare data workflows, and compliance standards. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who thrives in structured environments, enjoys working with data, and is eager to build a strong foundation in healthcare data operations while contributing to reliable, high-quality data outcomes., * Load, validate, and maintain medical and pharmaceutical data from TPAs, PBMs, and benefits brokers
- Utilize Lumelight proprietary tools to process and transform data accurately
- Maintain data integrity and always ensure HIPAA compliance
- Support recurring monthly data workflows and operational tasks
- Stay highly organized while managing repetitive and time-sensitive work
- Escalate complex data issues to senior specialists as appropriate
- Identify recurring provider-side data issues and escalate them for process improvements.
- Support Data Specialists II and III with assigned tasks
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Do you have experience in VBA?, * Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, data manipulation, and basic exposure to Macros or VBA.
- Ability to work with structured text files using tools such as Notepad++ or equivalent.
- Familiarity with secure file transfer tools such as Files.com or SFTP protocol.
- Experience troubleshooting data inconsistencies, formatting issues, and validation errors.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote environment
- Strong internal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured workflows.
- 1 to 2 years' experience working with sensitive or regulated data (e.g., healthcare claims).

Familiarity with medical billing terminology, * Strong strategic thinking and prioritization abilities, which will be applied to define product direction and maintain roadmaps aligned with business goals and customer value.

Excellent communication skills are essential for collaborating with cross-functional teams and engaging stakeholders, translating complex needs into clear product priorities and decisions.

Analytical skills will be employed to evaluate user feedback, product performance, and business outcomes, enabling data-informed decisions that optimize product impact.

Problem-solving skills will be critical in identifying opportunities, evaluating tradeoffs, and aligning stakeholders around the most valuable initiatives to pursue.

Strong understanding of agile methodologies and software development effectively partner with Product Owners and engineering teams to ensure successful delivery while maintaining focus on strategic product outcomes.
