Job description

The Database Administrator - BI Developer is responsible for management of the data environment and transforming raw data from multiple sources into accurate, reliable, and well-structured data models that support business reporting. They design and maintain interactive dashboards and reports in Power BI using SQL and Power Query to surface key performance indicators and actionable insights. The role works closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements, answer ad hoc questions, and translate analytical findings into clear recommendations., * Manage the transition from SQL Server utilizing SSRS to Power BI

  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports that clearly communicate business insights
  • Translate complex business requirements into data models, visuals, and KPIs within Power BI
  • Connect, import, and transform data from multiple sources using Power Query, SQL, Excel, and cloud data sources
  • Build and optimize data models using best practices for performance, scalability, and usability
  • Write and maintain DAX measures and calculated columns to support advanced analytics and reporting needs
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity through data validation and quality checks
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs and provide actionable, data-driven recommendations
  • Develop standardized reports and templates to promote consistent metrics and definitions across the organization
  • Monitor and improve report performance, including refresh times and model optimization
  • Support ad hoc data analysis requests and respond to evolving business questions
  • Train and support end users on how to interpret dashboards and use Power BI effectively
  • Develop and/or deploy ideas to enhance business functions via applications and web development
  • Program applications and new interfaces using Visual Interdev as the API and SQL as the backend for Web development
  • Handle Helpdesk calls related to your responsibilities from all Gunton computer users and document action taken on all issues (escalate unresolved issues to higher-level support)
  • Management of hosted internal SharePoint environment.
  • Document procedures and code for all applications according to set standards

Requirements

  • Experience managing a SQL Server environment
  • Experience managing/developing SSRS reports
  • Experience using Power Query or SQL for preparing, connecting, and transforming data
  • Experience using Power BI for data visualization
  • Experience managing SharePoint

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • College degree
