Job description
The System Architect SME provides senior technical leadership for enterprise infrastructure architecture and modernizion in support of the SEC ISS contract. This role transles mission and functional requirements into scalable, secure technical solutions across on-premises and hybrid/multi-cloud environments. The architect leads cross-functional engineering and operions teams to improve reliability, automion, and service performance aligned to SEC OIT objectives. The position drives technology evaluions, proofs of concept, pilots, and demos while ensuring designs integre with 24x7x365 enterprise operions and observability requirements. This role ensures architecture decisions align with Zero Trust, FISMA, and SEC governance expections., * Enterprise Architecture and Solution Design
- Architect and manage enterprise IT systems across multiple functional areas, including server, plform, storage, and cloud domains.
- Transle functional and operional requirements into technical architectures, integrion pterns, and implemention roadmaps.
- Define scalable, resilient target-ste designs and transitional architectures for hybrid environments.
- Develop and maintain architecture documention, standards, and technical decision artifacts to support execution and governance.
Technology Evaluion and Modernizion
- Identify, assess, and recommend technologies th meet defined technical and business requirements.
- Lead and execute proofs of concept (POCs), pilots, and demos to valide feasibility, risk, and operional fit.
- Guide modernizion efforts across virtualizion, cloud integrion, and enterprise infrastructure transformion initiives.
- Drive adoption of advanced technologies th improve efficiency, interoperability, and long-term maintainability.
Operions Leadership and Service Reliability
- Provide technical leadership to multi-discipline server and system operions teams in enterprise environments.
- Establish architecture requirements for monitoring, alerting, incident response, and operional visibility for production systems.
- Support root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement efforts tied to SLA and performance objectives.
- Ensure designs are supportable in 24x7x365 operions, including change/release coordinion and lifecycle management.
Security, Compliance, and Integrion Governance
- Provide technical leadership for system integrion, scalability, and security architecture across multi-vendor plforms.
- Embed security controls and compliance requirements into infrastructure and plform designs.
- Ensure architectural approaches support FISMA-aligned controls, vulnerability remediion, and secure configurion baselines.
- Collabore with cross-functional stakeholders to align technical solutions with SEC policy, risk, and operional governance.
Requirements
- This position is restricted to U.S. citizens only. Applicants must not hold dual citizenship with any other country to be eligible for work under this contract.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Informion Technology, Computer Science, Engineering) and 12+ years of experience in engineering and architecting enterprise IT systems.
- Ability to obtain and maintain SEC Public Trust.
- Proven experience managing multi-discipline server and system operions teams.
- Demonstred experience transling functional requirements into enterprise technical solutions and leading integrion/scalability efforts.
- Must possess Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) - Server Infrastructure certificion, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to collabore effectively across cross-functional teams.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional, TOGAF (or equivalent enterprise architecture certificion).
- Experience supporting U.S. federal IT environments with FISMA/NIST/OMB compliance requirements.
- Experience architecting or supporting observability plforms and enterprise monitoring integrions in large environments.
- Hands-on experience with container plforms and automion frameworks (e.g., OpenShift, Kubernetes, Ansible, GitOps toolchains).
- Experience leading architecture initiives in 24x7x365 enterprise operions organizions.
- Prior support to SEC or similarly reguled financial-sector federal agencies.
