Job description
The Missouri Historical Society is looking for technically skilled candidates with good problem-solving abilities and who display interpersonal skills for the position of IT Support Technician. The IT Support Technician is an important part of a small and dynamic IT department supporting the Institution's users and infrastructure. Duties include tasks and areas of responsibility:
- User support and training - both remotely and in-person
- Responding to support calls and email requests
- PC hardware builds, imaging, and troubleshooting
- Printer support
- Monthly Backup tape offsite rotation
- User onboarding and offboarding
- Assisting other IT Department personnel as needed
- Server support and administration
- Phone and phone system support
- Working with and supporting Office365 environment and applications
- Working with PCs, Macs, smartphones and other hardware and software, including installation, support/troubleshooting, upgrades, and replacement
- Working with building cabling, including tracing cables and doing and/or assisting with minor cable installation and troubleshooting tasks
- Limited travel between three local sites: Missouri History Museum, Library and Research Center, Soldiers Memorial Military Museum, and two storage facilities will be required
- Some physical work - equipment moves, rack mounting, etc., will be required
- Very occasional after-hours work may be required
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Do you have experience in Equipment troubleshooting?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, Knowledge and experience in these areas is desirable:
- General troubleshooting and problem solving
- General knowledge of Windows servers and Active Directory
- Microsoft Office365 and Office desktop apps
- Windows desktop/laptop environment
- General knowledge of phone systems
- General knowledge of Windows Hyper-V VM environment a plus
- General familiarity with networking concepts
- Some familiarity with general data cabling
- Video Conferencing
- Mac desktop/laptop environment and hardware
- General Linux environment familiarity a plus
- PC hardware and port types
Requirements include:

- Demonstrated troubleshooting and analytical skills
- The ability to constructively work with users/fellow employees and vendors
- Reliability - show up on time for scheduled shifts
- College or high school degree with minimum 2 years of applicable experience
