Job description
The IT Technologist plays a critical onsite role in ensuring secure, reliable, and high-performing infrastructure services across office, manufacturing, lab, and distribution environments. This position delivers hands-on technical support, partners with vendors and IT teams, and supports local and regional technology needs to keep operations running smoothly. In your role, you may work from the following Medtronic sites:
- Mounds View, Minnesota
- Plymouth, Minnesota
- Rice Creek, Minnesota
- Brooklyn Center, Minnesota
This role will require up to 20% of domestic travel to enhance collaboration and ensure the successful completion of projects.

- Provide onsite operational support and troubleshooting for infrastructure services to ensure reliable IT operations across office, manufacturing, lab, and distribution environments.
- Deliver hands-on "smart hands and feet" support for network, server, endpoint, printer, AV, and other infrastructure equipment, including network closets.
- Support network connectivity, device configuration, deployment, maintenance, and decommissioning across LAN and WAN environments.
- Perform preventative maintenance, system updates, and basic performance optimization for endpoints, operating systems, applications, and peripherals.
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve infrastructure issues; participate in root cause analysis, incident response, and problem management to improve system stability.
- Lead or support local infrastructure projects including installations, upgrades, hardware lifecycle management, and system deployments.
- Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and service providers to deliver infrastructure services, manage maintenance activities, and evaluate vendor versus internal support needs.
- Maintain technical documentation including system designs, configuration standards, operating procedures, and site inventory records.
- Serve as the onsite point of contact for infrastructure services, building relationships with business stakeholders and ensuring effective communication and escalation.
- Drive continuous improvement by recommending system enhancements, developing standards and playbooks, and supporting technology adoption across the site.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience with a bachelor's degree or 0+ years of experience with an advanced degree
NICE TO HAVE (preferred requirements)
- Proficiency in Windows, macOS, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 with strong troubleshooting and system administration skills.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals including routing, switching, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience supporting infrastructure technologies including networks, servers, storage, backup solutions, and virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Experience configuring, deploying, and managing endpoints and device compliance tools (e.g., SCCM, SolarWinds, Nexthink).
- Strong understanding of server, database, and infrastructure dependencies across enterprise environments.
- Ability to perform hands-on infrastructure tasks such as racking, cabling, console access, and hardware lifecycle support.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to mentor or train other team members and partner with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Previous Medtronic experience preferred; relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, and Security+ are a plus.
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$76,800.00 - $115,200.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
