Job description
Provide Linux Systems administration in the Signal and Information Sciences Laboratory (SISL)., * Linux installation, configuration, maintaining of servers, virtual servers, containers, workstations and laptops.
- Linux desktop support: supporting software applications for VPN, Office Tools, Developer Tools and other related software.
- Develop and maintain scripts for installation, configuration and maintenance of systems.
- Develop and maintain Automation Tools for configuration management and DevOps.
- Develop and maintain Monitoring Tools for systems.
- Develop and maintain Security related Tools and Scripts.
- Other duties as assigned., The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length., Employees may be required to report violations of law under Title IX and the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act). If this position is identified a Campus Security Authority (Clery Act), you will be notified and provided resources for reporting. Responsible employees under Title IX are defined and outlined in HOP-3031.
Requirements
- HS/GED.
- Two years of systems administrative experience with RedHat Linux and/or Ubuntu operating systems.
- Knowledge of maintaining Linux in a large enterprise environment.
- Experience with VMWare or similar virtualization platforms.
- Working knowledge of Automation/Orchestration and CM applications.
- Experience with building and deploying containers such as Docker and Podman.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and embrace learning new technologies.
- Good written and verbal communication/personal skills and very detail oriented.
- Acquire and maintain an IAT Level II certification (Security + or better) within 6 months of hire date.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) and/or Security + certifications.
- Experience with Automation and Orchestration tools such as Foreman, Cobbler, Puppet, Salt, and Ansible.
- Experience with monitoring applications Nagios, Splunk and Lansweeper.
- Experience with Kubernetes and Slurm.
- Scripting in Bash and Python.
- Experience in the implementation of NIST-1800-171 controls plus experience with auditing security baselines., A criminal history background check will be required for finalist(s) under consideration for this position., * E-Verify Poster (English and Spanish) [PDF]

Salary Range
$55,000 - $69,600+/negotiable depending on qualifications, * Standard office conditions
