Job description

The Sales Engineer will play a critical role in defining, standardizing, and managing the physical connectivity infrastructure supporting hyperscale data centers in the Seattle region and globally. This individual will serve as a technical leader and product owner for Layer 1 infrastructure solutions, including fiber and copper cabling systems, optics, patching architectures, structured cabling standards, and multi-vendor manufacturing specifications. The ideal candidate combines strong technical engineering expertise with customer-facing communication skills and a deep understanding of hyperscale data center environments., Design & Engineering

  • Review and validate hyperscale data center design drawings, including:
  • Rack elevations
  • Fiber routing
  • Interconnect topologies
  • Multistrand fiber assemblies
  • Structured cabling layouts
  • Ensure compliance with fiber polarity methodologies and connector standards including LC, MPO/MTP, CS, SN, MMC etc. and RJ45.
  • Convert design intent into manufacturing-ready documentation.
  • Collaborate with customer engineering teams, network architects, facilities personnel, and manufacturers to support scalable Layer 1 infrastructure deployments.

Vendor & Product Management

  • Own and manage structured cabling product standards across hyperscale deployments.
  • Develop standardized build to packages for:
  • Fiber trunks
  • Patch cords
  • Harness assemblies
  • Copper infrastructure
  • Lead vendor qualification efforts to ensure:
  • Product interchangeability
  • Manufacturing consistency
  • Supply chain resiliency
  • Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and cost optimization initiatives with suppliers and sourcing teams.

Quality & Compliance

  • Define engineering standards, acceptance criteria, and test methodologies for Layer 1 infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with:
  • TIA/EIA standards
  • ISO/IEC standards
  • IEEE standards
  • Customer-specific hyperscale requirements
  • Support quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives across deployed infrastructure.

Documentation & Process Management

  • Maintain accurate:
  • Bills of Material (BOMs)
  • Product revisions
  • Engineering documentation
  • PLM/Lifecycle Records
  • Review as-built documentation and incorporate field feedback into future design standards and deployment improvements., * Delivering scalable, standardized Layer 1 infrastructure designs for global deployment
  • Building and maintaining a resilient multi-source supplier ecosystem
  • Driving continuous improvement in quality, manufacturability, and deployment efficiency through Build to Packages
  • Establishing best-in-class standards for hyperscale structured cabling infrastructure

Requirements

Do you have experience in Visio?, * Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 7+ years of experience in:
  • Structured cabling design
  • Layer 1 engineering
  • Data center infrastructure development
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Fiber and copper infrastructure
  • Fiber polarity methods
  • Proficiency with:
  • AutoCAD
  • Visio
  • Similar design/documentation tools
  • Familiarity with:
  • TIA-568
  • ISO/IEC 11801
  • IEEE 802.3 standards
  • Experience developing multi-vendor manufacturing and build documentation
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional environments, * Experience supporting hyperscale or colocation data centers (10MW+ environments preferred)
  • Knowledge of optical testing methodologies including:
  • OTDR
  • IL/RL
  • Tier 1/Tier 2 testing
  • Understanding of:
  • Rack integration
  • Cable management systems
  • Pathway design
  • Industry certifications preferred:
  • BICSI RCDD
  • CFOT
  • DCPro
