Job description
Network Engineer - SD-WAN & Cloud Networking Support assists with the day-to-day operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the enterprise network with an emphasis on SD-WAN and cloud connectivity. Working under the guidance of the Senior Network Engineer and network leadership, this role executes standard changes, performs Tier-2 troubleshooting and incident resolution, maintains documentation, and helps ensure network stability and security across branches, data centers, and cloud environments.
Responsibilities of the Network Engineer - SD-WAN & Cloud Networking Support includes, but is not limited to:
- Provide Tier-2 operational support for LAN/WAN/WLAN and security infrastructure; troubleshoot incidents and service requests and escalate complex issues to the Senior Network Engineer (Tier-3).
- Assist with administering SD-WAN (e.g., Prisma SD-WAN), including site turn-ups, template/policy updates, and basic routing verification under established standards.
- Support firewall operations (e.g., Palo Alto Networks) by implementing approved rule changes, VPN user/group updates, and assisting with log review and policy troubleshooting.
- Configure and maintain Cisco switching/routing (Catalyst/Nexus/ISR/ASR) for standard moves/adds/changes: VLANs, trunks, access ports, DHCP relay, routing adjacencies, and QoS changes as directed.
- Administer Cisco Meraki environments (MX/MR/MS), including device onboarding, firmware coordination, SSID updates, and monitoring alerts.
- Perform network monitoring and alert triage using approved tooling; identify trends, document findings, and recommend remediation to reduce repeat incidents.
- Assist with cloud networking operations in Azure/AWS (e.g., VPC/VNet updates, security group/NSG coordination, route table changes, and connectivity checks) in partnership with cloud and security teams.
- Execute routine maintenance tasks (backup validation, certificate renewals coordination, inventory updates) and participate in change windows.
- Maintain and improve network documentation (diagrams, IP address management updates, standards, and runbooks).
- Participate in on-call rotation and follow incident/change management processes; produce clear post-incident notes and handoffs.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Wireless networking?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * 2+ years of experience in network engineering, network operations, or a similar IT infrastructure support role.
- Working knowledge of routing and switching fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, STP, OSPF/BGP basics, NAT, DHCP, DNS).
- Hands-on experience supporting Cisco and/or Meraki switching, wireless, and edge devices.
- Basic understanding of firewall concepts and VPN technologies; experience supporting Palo Alto Networks is preferred.
- Familiarity with SD-WAN concepts (site turn-up, overlays, path selection, application-aware policies).
- Exposure to cloud networking concepts in Azure and/or AWS (VPC/VNet, routing, security groups/NSGs, hybrid connectivity terminology).
- Strong troubleshooting skills and comfort working on tickets through closure.
- Ability to document changes and communicate status clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications such as CCNA, Network+, Meraki ECMS1/ECMS2, or PCNSA.
- Experience supporting Palo Alto Panorama and/or GlobalProtect in an operational capacity.
- Exposure to automation or scripting (Python, PowerShell, Ansible) and configuration standards.
- Experience supporting Zero Trust and SASE concepts (ZTNA basics, MFA/conditional access awareness, device posture signals).
- Professional certifications such as:
o CCNP/CCIE
o PCNSE
o Meraki CMNA/CMNP
o Prisma SD-WAN certifications
o AWS/Azure Networking Specialty
- Experience with Zero Trust, SASE, and cloud security architecture
