Job description
We are embarking on a major transformation initiative and seeking an experienced Azure/Network Architect with strong leadership skills to guide our organization through a greenfield modernization effort. This role will lead the architectural strategy, design, and delivery as we transition from a Cisco firewall environment to a Zero Trust security model, and from VMware virtualization into a fully Azure based cloud ecosystem.
As the Azure/Network Architect, you will serve as the technical authority and hands-on leader for this program, shaping cloud and network architectures, implementing modern security frameworks, and mentoring a small team through execution. This is a rare opportunity to build a next-generation environment from the ground up and leave a lasting impact on the organization's technology foundation. Responsibilities:
- Architect, design, and implement Azure cloud and Zero Trust aligned network architectures.
- Lead the end-to-end migration from Cisco firewall infrastructure to a Zero Trust model.
- Oversee migration from VMware based virtualization to Azure.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to a small engineering team; mentor, coach, and ensure best-practice execution.
- Define enterprise-grade network, cloud, and security blueprints and standards.
- Collaborate with security, infrastructure, application, and operations teams to ensure alignment across the business.
- Create high-level and detailed architectural documentation, roadmaps, and execution plans.
- Serve as the technical escalation point and subject matter expert throughout the transformation.
- Drive continuous improvement, automation, and operational excellence in cloud and network design.
Requirements
Do you have experience in VMware?, * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in network architecture and design within enterprise environments.
- Hands-on experience migrating from Cisco firewalls to a Zero Trust security model (e.g., Zscaler, Palo Alto, Microsoft Zero Trust frameworks).
- Proven experience migrating from VMware to Azure, including architecture, landing zone design, and workload migration.
- Strong leadership capabilities, including mentoring team members and driving cross-functional collaboration.
- Expertise in Azure networking, identity, policy, and governance.
- Strong understanding of enterprise network security, cloud security principles, and modern Zero Trust methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and guide teams through complex change.
Preferred Experience (Nice to Have):
- Azure certifications (AZ 305, AZ 700, AZ 500, or equivalent).
- Experience designing greenfield Azure landing zones.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (ARM, Bicep, Terraform).
