Job description
This position is for Senior Autonomy Engineer/Network Engineer in the Autonomy & Automation Site Network Communications team. This person will be part of an engineering team focused on wireless network testing and support of Caterpillar's Malaga Demonstration & Learning Center autonomous machine network. The individual should have technical depth with outdoor wireless networks including private cellular and WiFi. Experience in mining or construction technology is preferred as well as a good understanding of (RF) planning. Demonstrated strong customer facing skills is very important as this position will be interacting with customers Caterpillar commercial teams to support operations at Malaga as well as providing subject matter expertise to customers from time to time.
What You Will Do:
- Manage and support wireless technology (Wi-Fi & private cellular) at the Malaga facility
- Work on and around heavy equipment, installing radios and antennas
- Collaborate with global team of Caterpillar network engineers
- Work with Cat commercial teams on pre-sales engagements to analyze customer operational needs and recommend wireless technology solutions.
- Participate in design reviews, testing, and validation processes to ensure compliance with requirements.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in cellular and Wi-Fi technologies and connectivity standards
Requirements

- Software Development Life Cycle : Knowledge of software development life cycle; ability to use a structured methodology for delivering and managing new or enhanced software products to the marketplace.
- Software Product Testing : Knowledge of software product testing; ability to design, plan, and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure software product quality and adherence to stated requirements.
- Application Development Tools : Knowledge of application and system development; ability to utilize a variety of specific tools and toolkits for developing applications.
- Artificial Intelligence : Knowledge of the concepts, technologies and methodologies of artificial intelligence (AI); ability to develop, implement and/or apply artificial intelligence products and services in specific industry domain to achieve business goals.
- Programming : Knowledge of relevant programming languages and tools; ability to test, write, design, debug, troubleshoot and maintain source codes and computer programs.
- Technical Troubleshooting : Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application or operation.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:

- IP Route/Switch knowledge
- Enterprise networking deployment & support experience
Additional Information:
- This role requires up to 10/20% of business travel time.
- A valid work permit or EU-25/EFTA citizenship is required for this position.

€73,020.00
Please note that salary is only one component of the total compensation and benefit package available at Caterpillar.
This position requires working onsite five days a week.
