Job description

For the role we are looking for the following responsibilities:

  • Develop an expertise in applying Agentic AI techniques for performing automated tasks in the KYC domain, such as data extraction from documents, completeness and reliability assessments, context engineering and optimisation, etc.

  • Scoping, developing, validating and documenting Agentic AI solutions, and helping bring these to production successfully.

  • Other project include: machine and representation learning, entity resolution, and network & graph applications.

  • Adopt best practices and quality standards for developing & deploying fit-for-purpose model pipelines, addressing the requirements of the ING model governance.

  • Be an effective member of a model development & implementation squad, challenge the status quo and build what matters.

  • Actively learn about our domain, reach out to our stakeholders, and tell captivating stories with our data to create a journey that makes our bank and our society safer.

Requirements

  • You have 4+ years of work experience in the Data Science space (methods, technology, data) including statistical modelling and machine learning experience to solve business questions and/or develop (innovative) data driven products.

  • Proven experience in working with LLM techniques and affinity with Agentic techniques.

  • MSc or PhD with excellent academic results in the field of Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Econometrics, Physics or similar.

  • You have experience in the scoping, developing and building of multiple projects, and successfully bringing those to production on cloud platforms.

  • You have good communication skills and are able to explain complicated subjects clearly, to both peers and stakeholders.

  • You have deep knowledge of statistics and model interpretation, evaluation and validation, including a wide range of machine learning algorithms, ranging from more classical econometric models to cutting-edge neural networks and can match them to business problems. You are a critical thinker. You can pick up new complex techniques quickly.

  • You are a team player who strikes effective balance between independence and acting in the interest of the team. You are friendly and approachable with good humor and personality. You are proactive in solving problems and impediments.

About the company

The Data Scientist hired will be responsible for proactively scoping, developing, validating, and documenting Agentic AI solutions which will form the core of products which ING Analytics Wholesale Banking (INGA-WB) develops for ING bank. This will also include carrying out world-class Research and Development where appropriate to arrive at a solution, as well as potentially guiding and mentoring more junior members and STAs or Master students (though this person will not be a line manager). ING Analytics Wholesale Banking is a department formed of four Chapters (Data Science, Data Engineering, UX, and Product Management) which has roughly 100 full-time employees, and which focusses on building algorithmic 10x data-driven products that benefit our clients and generate revenue for the bank.
