Job description

We are looking for a talented Web Developer to join our expanding team. While you will be working extensively with our core CMS, WordPress, we are looking for a true developer who understands broader web fundamentals, writes clean PHP and JavaScript, and cares deeply about front-end performance and site architecture.

You won't just be installing plugins and wrestling with page builders. You will work closely with our expert design and technical teams to build, optimise, and maintain bespoke web builds, sophisticated eCommerce platforms, and custom integrations that look stunning and perform flawlessly., * Custom CMS Development: Build and maintain robust, fully custom WordPress themes and bespoke plugins, ensuring a strict departure from heavy, off-the-shelf solutions.

  • Front-End Execution: Translate bespoke design mock-ups into responsive, semantic, and pixel-perfect HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript.
  • eCommerce Engineering: Develop and optimise WooCommerce stores, including custom product configurations, tailored checkouts, and third-party integrations.
  • Performance Optimisation: Ensure all builds meet strict Core Web Vitals criteria, rigorously optimising site speed, asset loading, and overall accessibility.
  • Troubleshooting & Debugging: Proactively diagnose and fix bugs, server-side PHP errors, and application conflicts (reading error logs and writing patches, not just clicking 'reinstall').
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Bridge the gap between design and development, ensuring technical SEO requirements and usability standards are baked into the code from day one.

Requirements

Do you have experience in WordPress?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Solid Web Fundamentals: A strong grasp of HTML5, CSS3, and a solid working knowledge of native PHP and JavaScript.

  • Strong WordPress Expertise: A deep, code-level understanding of the WordPress ecosystem "under the hood," including the Template Hierarchy, custom post types, Advanced Custom Fields (ACF), WooCommerce and the WP Loop.
  • Clean Code Philosophy: You prefer writing a custom script or snippet over installing a heavy third-party plugin just to solve a simple problem.
  • SEO & Performance Awareness: A solid understanding of what makes a website search-engine friendly (e.g., semantic HTML, fast load times, mobile responsiveness).
  • Problem-Solving Mindset: You are naturally curious, eager to learn, and not afraid to dive into a complex codebase to figure out how things work.
  • (Bonus): Experience with version control (Git), local development environments, eCommerce (Shopify, Magento), API integrations, and a basic understanding of server/hosting architecture., * Bachelor's (preferred), * Git: 1 year (preferred)
  • SEO: 1 year (preferred)
  • APIs: 1 year (preferred)
  • WordPress: 3 years (required)
  • PHP: 3 years (required)
  • CSS: 3 years (required)
  • JavaScript: 3 years (required)
