Job description

As a Senior Nanofabrication Engineer, your main duties and responsibilities are to perform the following activities in conjunction with other KNT staff members:

· Design, plan, run, monitor and document process flows through the cleanroom.

· Analyse processing results using a wide range of metrology techniques to check quality and diagnose problems.

· Hands-on development of fabrication processes to meet the technical requirements.

· Provide guidance and direction when delegating tasks to KNT Technical Team members.

· Implement corrective actions and improvements.

· Liaise with cleanroom staff in a collaborative way to communicate KNT process requirements.

· Engage with external suppliers to procure appropriate materials, equipment and services for delivering contracts.

· Generate concise and clear customer reports detailing specifications, process and inspection results.

· Contribute constructively to solving engineering problems.

· Able to work closely with other team members and individually with light supervision.

· Present work at internal meetings with clearly explained information.

· Engage in personal, professional and career development, to enhance both specialist and transferable skills in accordance with desired career trajectory.

· Undertake any other duties of equivalent standing.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Time management?, Do you have a Master's degree?, The successful candidate will be expected to contribute significantly to the delivery of KNT contracts using their in-depth knowledge and problem-solving ability in the areas of process design, lithography, pattern transfer, and metrology. The successful candidate will take responsibility for processing material through complex processes with sufficient care, skill and attention to detail to maximise yield and quality. Senior engineers at KNT are expected to support the sales team in scoping new projects and are often involved in customer facing activities. Travelling in the UK, Europe and elsewhere may be required., Essential:

  1. Honours Degree in science or engineering or equivalent industrial experience

  2. Demonstrable practical experience of:

· Micro or nanofabrication processing.

· Semiconductor processing in a R&D or industrial cleanroom.

· Process development.

· Lithographic patterning & pattern transfer.

· Experience of advance microscopy techniques.

· Delivering scientific or engineering outputs in a timely and efficient manner.

Desirable:

  1. Master's degree or PhD in science or engineering.

  2. Experience of risk assessment preparation.

  3. Working knowledge of a QMS like ISO9001.

  4. Knowledge of quantum technologies and photonics.

  5. Project management experience.

  6. Experience coordinating technical tasks with a team.

Skills

Essential:

  1. Excellent communication skills (oral and written), including presentations and ability to communicate complex data/concepts clearly and concisely.

  2. Excellent interpersonal skills including team working.

  3. Appropriate workload/time management skills.

  4. Good IT (including basic Python coding or other similar coding programmes), data analysis skills and statistical data interpretation.

  5. Self-motivation and independent thought/working.

  6. Problem solving.

Desirable:

  1. Expertise in plasma etching.

  2. Expertise in photolithography.

  3. Expertise in electron beam lithography.

  4. Expertise in CAD software packages for mask design (e.g. L-Edit, KLayout etc.)

Benefits & conditions

· Starting salary range £38,000 - £50,000 depending on qualifications and experience.

· Full time.

· Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm.

· Contributory Career Average Pension scheme.

· New employees will serve a 6-month probationary period.
