Job description
- Perform technical project tasks, including database design, advanced GIS analysis, and modeling.
- Conduct data mining activities to meet customer requirements and specifications.
- Provide specialized queries, maps, and reports.
- Perform application testing and document defects.
- Interface with users to document requested or needed changes.
- Identify new GIS technologies, processes, or applications to improve departmental functions.
- Create and maintain existing automated processes using Model Builder, Python scripting, or other tools.
- Process, prepare, and convert data from a variety of formats for entry into the GIS.
- Analyze current business processes and recommend best-practice solutions.
- Perform QA/QC on versioned data that is pushed to the production environment.
Requirements
Education: A Bachelor's degree in geography (GIS), engineering, computer science, or a related field. A GIS certificate and three years of related work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree in a related discipline.
Experience: A minimum of three years of experience in industry-standard GIS, including at least one year in a utility or pipeline GIS environment.
Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Esri ArcGIS Pro and Esri ArcGIS 10.2x.
- Advanced proficiency with linear referencing techniques and concepts.
- Advanced proficiency with the MS Office suite (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
- Intermediate proficiency with FME by Safe Software, Esri ArcGIS Enterprise, Utility Network, Model Builder, Python, and SQL RDBMS.
- Basic proficiency with AutoCAD/CADD, Visual Basic/VBA, and SharePoint.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with linear referencing techniques and concepts is highly recommended.
- Knowledge of the Utility and Pipeline Data model (UPDM) is highly recommended.
Work Environment
This position requires travel up to 5% of the time. The work structure is hybrid, requiring four days a week in the office.
Benefits & conditions
The pay rate for this position is between $25.00 and $35.00 per hour. The bill rate is a maximum of $56.00 per hour. Specific benefits packages are available to eligible employees.
