Power BI Developer - Entry Level / Junior

We are seeking an Entry-Level / Junior Power BI Developer to support data analytics and reporting efforts by building interactive dashboards, reports, and data visualizations in Power BI. The selected candidate will work with analysts, business stakeholders, and senior technical team members to gather reporting requirements, prepare data, maintain existing dashboards, and support internal reporting needs.

This role is ideal for a candidate with foundational experience in Power BI, SQL, data visualization, reporting documentation, and data preparation.

We are seeking an Entry-Level / Junior Power BI Developer to support data analytics and reporting efforts by building interactive dashboards, reports, and data visualizations in Power BI. The selected candidate will work with analysts, business stakeholders, and senior technical team members to gather reporting requirements, prepare data, maintain existing dashboards, and support internal reporting needs.

This role is ideal for a candidate with foundational experience in Power BI, SQL, data visualization, reporting documentation, and data preparation., Develop interactive dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using Microsoft Power BI.

Support data cleaning, transformation, and data modeling tasks under the guidance of senior team members.

Maintain and update existing Power BI reports and datasets to ensure accuracy, reliability, and usability.

Collaborate with analysts, business users, and stakeholders to understand reporting needs and dashboard requirements.

Use SQL or other query tools to extract, prepare, and validate data from various sources.

Troubleshoot basic data, report, refresh, or visualization issues and escalate complex problems when needed.

Document reporting processes, data definitions, datasets, data pipelines, report logic, and visualization standards.

Monitor existing Power BI reports to ensure scheduled refreshes complete successfully and troubleshoot refresh issues.

Participate in dashboard requirement reviews and provide input on layout, visualization options, usability, and reporting improvements.

Stay current with Power BI features, analytics trends, dashboarding best practices, and internal reporting tools.

Collaborate with senior developers to implement role-level security in Power BI where required.

Learn and apply data modeling best practices, including star schema design, DAX fundamentals, and performance optimization.

Assist in preparing presentation-ready visual summaries for leadership or project teams.

Support team members with creating dashboards or analytics views in the ServiceNow platform, as needed.

Do you have experience in Technical writing?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, Candidates must meet all minimum requirements below. The required experience must be clearly stated in the resume.

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Minimum 5 years of experience building interactive dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using Power BI.

Minimum 5 years of experience preparing complex technical documentation.

Minimum 5 years of experience using SQL or other query tools to extract, prepare, and work with data from various sources.

Minimum 5 years of experience documenting reporting processes, data definitions, datasets, and visualization standards.

Preferred Skills:

Experience supporting Power BI datasets, report refreshes, and dashboard maintenance.

Basic understanding of DAX, data modeling, star schema design, and Power BI performance optimization.

Experience working with business stakeholders to gather and clarify reporting requirements.

Experience supporting dashboards or analytics in ServiceNow or similar enterprise platforms.

Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, reliable reports.

Ability to work independently while also collaborating with senior developers and business users.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Work Location Requirement:

This is a hybrid position based in Washington, DC. The selected candidate must be available to work onsite 4 days per week and remotely 1 day per week.
