Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager (Sr IT PM) to lead multiple AI initiatives across the full solution life cycle-from scope definition and development to deployment, maintenance, and optimization. In this role, you will partner with data scientists, machine learning engineers, data engineers, software developers, and other key stakeholders to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of high-impact AI products. Leveraging industry-standard project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Kanban), you will oversee risk assessment, resource allocation, and project milestones to align complex, cross-functional teams with organizational goals. Responsibilities include building and maintaining detailed project plans, facilitating stakeholder communication, and enforcing compliance with data privacy, security, and quality standards.

As the primary liaison for AI projects, you will mentor and guide the project team to ensuring they adopt best practices in milestone completion, documentation, and risk mitigation. You will also collaborate with executive sponsors, technical leads, and vendors to maintain strategic alignment and drive continuous improvement in AI project delivery. The ideal candidate combines a solid understanding of machine learning fundamentals with proven expertise in orchestrating complex technology projects. Through disciplined execution, leadership, and stakeholder engagement, you will help scale AI solutions that deliver transformative value to our organization.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Project management oversight, leadership and expertise

Direct multiple AI initiatives across the full solution lifecycle, aligning projects with strategic objectives, timelines, and budgets.

Collaborate with stakeholders to transform business goals into detailed AI project plans, technical requirements, and clear milestones.

Define and manage project scope, schedules, and resource plans (personnel, technical, and financial).

Adhere to institutional governance and project management standards, completing necessary documentation for reviews and approvals.

Provide regular status updates, escalate issues promptly, and maintain comprehensive project records.

Lead teams including data scientists, machine learning engineers, data engineers, developers, and other key stakeholders; while driving continuous improvement.

Oversight for the development, enhancement and/or implementation of systems, applications, or databases

Utilize Agile/Scrum, MLOps, DevOps, or comparable frameworks to ensure iterative development, continuous integration, and delivery of AI solutions.

Work closely with technical teams to document requirements, specifications, and design for system hardware, software, and architecture.

Engage customers and end users to validate system requirements, configurations, and testing outcomes, securing final acceptance for go-live.

Coordinate training for end users, ensure smooth handoff to production support, and manage change requests.

Guarantee compliance with relevant standards and maintain documentation to ensure compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulations.

Coordinates development/delivery of training for end-users and customer groups

Coordinates development of production support model for the production system.

Resource Management Define, prioritize, and coordinate the project teams tasks, providing feedback on performance and professional development.

Establish and maintain project budgets, oversee expenses, and inform management of budget status.

Mentor junior team members, fostering best practices in AI project delivery, This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.

Requirements

Required Education: Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Education: Master's Degree

Preferred Certification: Project Management Institute (PMI) Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP).

Required Experience: Six years of experience to include five years in project management and five years in application and/or infrastructure services. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one-to-one basis. With a preferred degree four years of experience is required to include three years in project management and three years in application and/or infrastructure services.

Preferred Experience: Ten years of experience to include five years in project management and five years in application and/or infrastructure services. Must have project management (large wide enterprise scale) experience in an IT environment, healthcare preferred. Experience managing AI and Machine Learning, familiar with AI implementation projects.
