Job description

R1 is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to join the Business Intelligence (BI) department, a lean, high-performing team that delivers intelligence across all levels of R1. This role works cross-functionally across multiple service lines, partnering with operational stakeholders to translate business questions into data-driven solutions through reporting, automation, and analytics.

This individual will build and maintain Power BI reports, write production-grade SQL against Snowflake, develop automated reporting workflows in Python or R, and deliver ad hoc analytical extracts under tight timelines. The work ranges from defining metric logic for executive dashboards to account-level data reconciliation for client deliverables.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with operational leaders across service lines to translate business questions into reporting and analytics solutions. Bridge the gap between stakeholder needs and technical delivery.

  • Reporting & Analysis: Build and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards, deliver ad hoc analytical extracts under tight timelines, and analyze operational data to identify root causes, reconcile discrepancies, and surface actionable insights.

  • Automation: Replace manual reporting processes with scalable, automated workflows using SQL, Python, or R - scheduled distributions, snapshot pipelines, metric calculations.

  • Strategic Communication: Synthesize findings into clear, evidence-backed recommendations for leadership. Articulate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Technical Proficiency: Daily use of SQL (Snowflake), Python or R, and Power BI (DAX) for extraction, transformation, analysis, and visualization across multiple data platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in business, statistics, computer science, data science, analytics, or related field.

  • 2-5 years' experience in an analytics role building reports, data models, and automated workflows.

  • Strong proficiency in SQL (Snowflake preferred), Power BI (DAX/data modeling), and Python or R.

  • Healthcare revenue cycle experience preferred.

  • Working knowledge of agile methodologies (Kanban, Sprints).

  • Comfortable with shifting priorities; able to pivot between strategic projects and urgent ad hoc requests without losing quality.

  • Experience partnering directly with operational business leaders across diverse functions.

  • Uncompromising attention to detail and strong data intuition - able to look at results and quickly assess reasonableness.
