Job description
You will work closely with a small, cross-functional team to guide, build, and improve features for the companion app of a game played by millions of players worldwide. You will be responsible for:
- Leading technical direction for MONOPOLY GO! Chat features and systems in React Native
- Turning ambiguous product goals into clear technical plans with product, design, backend, QA, game teams, and other partners
- Owning quality, performance, release readiness, and platform integrations for production mobile app changes
- Mentoring engineers, raising the quality of technical decision-making, and helping the team develop strong engineering practices
- Using generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Codex, Claude Code, Copilot, and Windsurf while helping the team adopt safe and useful AI-assisted workflows
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional experience on a mobile app, game, or similarly complex product engineering team
- 5+ years of professional React Native development experience on shipped mobile applications, with deep knowledge of TypeScript and JavaScript
- Experience creating native modules or platform-specific integrations using Java, Kotlin, Objective-C, Swift, or C++
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, concurrency, design patterns, API design, testing, debugging, and maintainable architecture
- Experience identifying and addressing mobile performance issues using React profiling tools and native tooling such as Xcode Instruments, Android Studio profilers, and Perfetto
- Solid understanding of mobile networking, offline behavior, unreliable network conditions, app lifecycle concerns, push notifications, and platform limitations
- Experience leading technical design, influencing architecture, mentoring engineers, and aligning technical work across teams or disciplines
- Ability to write effective prompts, supervise agent-driven development work, create or adapt agent skills, and guide a team toward safe and useful AI-assisted engineering practices
- Excellent technical communication skills, including the ability to explain tradeoffs clearly to technical and non-technical partners
- A desire to seek out and address player and stakeholder feedback to drive outstanding application development
Bonus Points
- Experience with the Expo framework for React Native
- Professional experience as a full-stack or backend developer
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
- Experience building and maintaining automations with GitHub Actions or other automation platforms
- Experience with the Unity Game Engine and C#
- Experience with mobile release processes, app store submissions, feature flags, experimentation, or staged rollouts
- Experience with observability, crash reporting, analytics, or production debugging for mobile applications

Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. CA, CO, NJ, NY, and WA Annual Salary Range $169,600-$253,000 USD
