Job description
The IT Assistant will provide day-to-day technical support to the IT Director and wider firm, ensuring the smooth operation of IT systems and services. This role is critical in maintaining high standards of system performance, security, and user support within a professional legal environment., Technical Support
- Provide first-line support to staff for hardware, software, and network issues
- Troubleshoot and resolve IT problems in a timely and professional manner
- Assist with the setting up user accounts, workstations and access permissions
Systems & Infrastructure
- Support the maintenance of IT systems, including servers, networks, and cloud services
- Monitor system performance and escalate issues to the IT Director where necessary
User Administration
- Manage user accounts in applications such as Microsoft 365 and practice management systems
- Ensure appropriate access controls are maintained in line with firm policies
Hardware & Software Management
- Set up, configure, and maintain laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and peripherals
- Assist with software installations
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Support implementation of IT security policies and procedures
- Assist with monitoring for security risks and maintaining compliance with legal and regulatory requirements (e.g. GDPR, SRA guidance)
Project Support
- Assist the IT Director with IT projects such as upgrades, migrations, and new software
- Help document the processes, procedures, and system configurations
Documentation & Administration
- Maintain accurate IT documentation and asset registers
AI
- Assist in exploring and developing AI platforms and systems
- Be involved in basic training on using AI and rolling out any adopted platforms
Training
- Provide in house training at team meetings and to new starters
Requirements
Do you have experience in Technical support?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, Essential:
- Basic understanding of IT systems, networks, and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and Windows
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to support non-technical users
- Ability to prioritise workload
Desirable:
- Knowledge of case management and/or document management systems
- Awareness of cybersecurity best practices
- Relevant IT qualification or working towards one
