Job description
We are looking for an experienced IT Systems Engineer to join our small IT team. This is a hands-on, broad role covering hardware, servers, e-commerce platforms and end-user support. You'll be the go-to person for keeping our systems running across the business. The role is based at our Ramsgate site, with travel to a new Whitfield site (opening soon) which will also fall within the role's coverage. This is a permanent position replacing a long-standing member of the team, with a thorough handover provided., * End-user and hardware support: In-person and remote technical support; PC, printer, phone and barcode scanner setup, configuration and maintenance; purchasing consumables and spare parts.
- Servers, network and security: Active Directory and Group Policy management; GlobalProtect VPN; Palo Alto firewall configuration; print server; some Linux server work; supporting PCI compliance.
- E-commerce and order management platforms: Configuration, user and permission management, integration and feed maintenance, bug testing and documentation, and procedure design across Linnworks, Magento, Intercom and related systems.
- Software, licensing and user management: Managing users and permissions across Google Workspace, Microsoft, Slack, DUO, Miradore and similar platforms; software licensing; training colleagues on systems.
- Continuous improvement: Evaluating process improvements and automation, including AI-assisted tooling.
- Multi-site coverage: Supporting both our Ramsgate site and our new Whitfield site (opening soon).
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driving License license?, Do you have experience in VPN?, * Proven IT experience: Demonstrable experience in a broad IT support or engineering role.
- Core technical skills: Confident with Active Directory, Group Policy and Windows server administration; comfortable with networking and firewall fundamentals; strong PC and peripheral troubleshooting.
- Effective Communication: Clear, professional written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical colleagues.
- Composure Under Pressure: Methodical and accurate when working in a busy environment.
- Reliability: Punctuality, consistent attendance and the ability to document your own work.
- Tech-Forward Mindset: A willingness to learn and use AI-assisted systems.
- Working Schedule: 08:00-16:00, Monday to Friday, on site. Some flexibility for occasional planned maintenance outside core hours by arrangement.
- Driving Licence: Required, for travel between Ramsgate and Whitfield sites.
Desirable: Linnworks, Magento or similar e-commerce/OMS experience; Palo Alto, Linux, Intercom, Miradore or DUO experience; awareness of PCI compliance.
