Job description

Logical Systems, Inc. (LSI) seeks a highly technical MES Solutions Architect to design, build, integrate, and support advanced Manufacturing Execution Systems across industrial and regulated manufacturing environments. This role bridges OT and IT, combining plant-floor automation expertise (PLC, SCADA, Historians) with enterprise application integration (ERP, QMS, LIMS, analytics) to deliver real-time, scalable MES architectures. The ideal candidate can build MES applications from the ground up, understand deterministic shop-floor communication, and design event-driven, ISA-95 aligned systems that support production execution, traceability, quality, and operational intelligence. Experience developing validation document stacks (URS/FRS/FS/DDS/IQ/OQ/PQ) is a significant plus. Key Responsibilities MES Application Development

  • Design, develop, configure, and maintain MES applications supporting production execution, routing, WIP, material management, genealogy, traceability, OEE, downtime, SPC/SQC, quality, batch/recipe management, and eBR.
  • Develop MES runtimes and microservices using C#, .NET Core, Java, or Python.

OT-IT Integration & Industrial Connectivity

  • Integrate MES with PLCs, DCS, SCADA, Historians, CMMS, LIMS, and ERP systems.
  • Develop interfaces using OPC UA/DA, MQTT, Kafka, REST, gRPC, SQL, ETL pipelines, and Unified Namespace.
  • Engineer deterministic store-and-forward and guaranteed-delivery messaging patterns.

Data Modeling & Architecture

  • Develop ISA-95 and/or ISA-88 aligned data models.
  • Build and optimize SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Oracle schemas.
  • Implement transactional logic, audit trails, and event-sourced models.

Front-End Development & Visualization

  • Build UI components using React, Angular, Blazor, or MES-native UIs like Ignition Perspective or Opcenter.
  • Develop Real Time dashboards, HMIs, and analytics.

Deployment, Validation & Operations

  • Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, recipe validation, and plant-floor go-lives.
  • Troubleshoot across the entire MES stack (PLC ? SCADA ? Messaging ? MES ? DB ? ERP).
  • Contribute to or oversee validation deliverables under GAMP5/CSA.

Security & Compliance

  • Implement cybersecurity controls aligned with ISA/IEC 62443.
  • Support compliance with GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, and regulated industry requirements when applicable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on MES or manufacturing system development.
  • Strong development experience with C#, .NET, Java, Python, SQL.
  • OT/IT integration experience with OPC UA, MQTT, Kafka, ETLs, Unified Namespace.
  • Experience with PLCs, SCADA, and historians in production environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • GMP/Pharma MES Experience (Preferred):
  • Siemens Opcenter Execution Pharma (Camstar)
  • Emerson Syncade
  • Körber Werum PAS-X
  • Constellation POMSnet
  • Rockwell PharmaSuite

Additional MES Platform Experience (Bonus)

  • Siemens Opcenter (Discrete/Process)
  • Critical Manufacturing
  • Parsec TrakSYS
  • Rockwell Plex
  • MFGx FUUZ
  • Inductive Automation Ignition
  • AWS/Azure cloud services
  • AVEVA System Platform/MES

Historian Experience (Significant Plus)

  • AVEVA PI System (Data Archive, AF/EF)
  • DataPARC ParkView
  • Canary Historian
  • GE Proficy Historian
  • Ignition Tag Historian/SQL Bridge

Industry & Technical Experience

  • Discrete, process, pharma (preferred), food/bev, or CPG manufacturing
  • Cloud IoT/IIoT platforms (Azure IoT, AWS IoT, etc.)
  • Experience working in regulated environments (GMP/GxP)

Expected Deliverables

  • Enterprise-grade MES services with deterministic OT connectivity.
  • Version-controlled ISA-95 data models and documented architectures.
  • High-quality APIs and integration schemas for OT ? IT data exchange.
  • Ability to develop or oversee the full validation documentation stack.
