Job description

The role would be supporting, a global systems integrator and long-standing partner, this is supporting a major AI data center build in Amarillo, TX. This project serves as an initial proof-of-value engagement, with strong potential for extension or conversion to full-time employment., The Data Center Field Installations Technician (L1) is responsible for executing standardized, low-complexity installation tasks within data center racks. This includes equipment installation, structured cabling, power connections, and basic cooling setup. This role requires strict adherence to documented procedures, safety standards, and quality expectations to ensure efficient project delivery and minimize operational risk.

Key Responsibilities

Assemble and prepare racks, including rail kits, PDUs, cable management, and labeling Rack and install servers, network, and storage hardware according to design specifications Perform structured cabling (copper and fiber), including routing, dressing, and labeling Connect power cabling (A/B feeds) following redundancy and safety standards Support airflow and cooling setup:

Install blanking panels and airflow management components (DX environments) Assist with proper cable routing for airflow optimization Support direct-to-chip (D2C) liquid cooling connections under supervision

Follow installation documentation, diagrams, and Method of Procedures (MOPs) Perform basic quality checks and report issues or discrepancies Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

Health & Safety

Adhere to all data center safety policies and procedures Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times Follow safe lifting and material handling practices Comply with electrical safety guidelines under supervision Follow safety protocols related to liquid cooling systems Maintain proper housekeeping to prevent hazards Immediately report any incidents, near misses, or risks

Requirements

We are seeking entry-level Data Center Field Installation Technicians (L1 and L2) to support hands-on deployment activities within a data center environment. This role is ideal for candidates looking to build foundational experience in critical infrastructure and IT hardware deployment.

L1 Techs: Less than 1 Year of Data Center, Low voltege cabling experience. L2 TEchs 2+ Years of experience in the Data Center, Structuered cabling space., Basic understanding of data center environments and IT hardware Familiarity with structured cabling (copper and/or fiber preferred) Knowledge of rack infrastructure (PDUs, rails, cable management) Understanding of airflow management; exposure to DX or liquid cooling is a plus Ability to follow technical documentation and SOPs Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn Ability to perform physical work (lifting, standing for extended periods, working in tight spaces) Basic knowledge of workplace safety practices
