Job description
Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for an E-7 Senior Software Architect to join our dynamic team supporting USAF mission systems in Tukwila, WA., * Translates system-level requirements and models into software requirements with traceability to design, code, and test artifacts
- Conducts system-level analyses to identify and mitigate risks, issues, and opportunities across the software lifecycle
- Performs and leads code reviews to ensure adherence to requirements and standards
- Oversees and validates software verification and test activities; manages resolution of software issues
- Develops user documentation and training materials for software products and features
- Tracks and evaluates team and supplier performance; ensures alignment with project plans and industry standards
- Introduces and applies emerging technologies, tools, and best practices relevant to software development
- Performs software project management and supplier management tasks as required
- Collaborates across engineering, systems, and programmatic stakeholders to ensure operational and certification needs are met
- Develops software architecture in accordance with prioritized constraints to meet weapon system objectives
- Decomposes logical systems architecture into software components and maintains traceability from system-level requirements to software requirements, design, code, and test artifacts
- Defines, oversees, and approves software requirements, functions, components, functional allocation, and interface definitions
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- 10+ years' experience in software architecture development and verification
- 10+ years' experience with coding
- 10+ years' experience with Software Development Processes
- 5+ years' experience with Open Missions Systems
- 5+ years' experience with mission systems architecture
- Proficient in Agile methodology and Implementing DevOps pipeline - Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD)
- Experience providing technical leadership for an engineering team, * Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 20+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor's Degree and 24+ years of directly related work experience OR 28+ years of related, relevant experience
- Prior work on DoD/USAF software programs or related avionics/mission systems
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- Experience with Agile Mission Suite (AMS) Government Reference Architecture (GRA)
- Experience with Communications systems (Comms)
- Experience with certification processes and safety/security standards applicable to defense systems
- Experience leading design reviews, supporting verification & test activities, and driving issue resolution
- Ability to advise and assist the Chief Software Architect on the software development lifecycle (cradle-to-grave) and on activities/products of DevSecOps Architect (including software factory) and supporting architects (Process, Content, Framework)

Travel:
Position may require travel up to 10% of the time., Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Required, This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Summary Pay Range: USD $223,550 - $302,450
