Job description
If you're excited by high-impact problems, broad company visibility, and shaping the future operating model of a modern fintech company, Systems is where you belong. What You'll Do
You'll lead a team of highly technical operators responsible for the systems, automation, and operational infrastructure that power Brex's Operations organization at scale. This role sits at the center of some of Brex's most critical functions - including Risk, Compliance, Payment Operations, Servicing, and Banking Operations - partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Data, Finance, and Operations leaders to solve complex business problems.
This is both a strategic and hands-on leadership role. You'll define the long-term vision for how Brex scales operationally while directly driving execution on high-impact systems, workflows, and AI-powered tooling. Your team will play a central role in transforming traditional operations into AI-native organizations through intelligent automation, agentic workflows, decision infrastructure, and scalable internal platforms.
You'll help answer foundational questions such as:
- How should operational work be redesigned in an AI-native world?
- How do we increase efficiency and automation while maintaining strong customer experience and risk controls?
- How do we build systems that create leverage across rapidly scaling operational teams?
This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of operational systems and AI transformation at Brex. Where You Will Work
This role will be based in our Salt Lake City office. We are a hybrid environment that combines the energy and connections of being in the office with the benefits and flexibility of working from home. We currently require a minimum of three days in the office per week, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. As a perk, we also have up to four weeks per year of fully remote work! Responsibilities
BizOps is the connective tissue that powers Brex's growth and operational scale. We operate at the intersection of product, operations, finance, data, engineering, and GTM - solving the company's most complex cross-functional challenges and turning strategy into execution.
From driving AI transformation across Operations and GTM to building scalable systems, workflows, and decision infrastructure, BizOps helps Brex operate smarter, faster, and with greater leverage. We are redefining how modern operational organizations work by combining business context, systems thinking, and AI-native execution.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience leading Systems, BizOps, TechOps, Internal Platform, or Operational Excellence teams in high-growth, fast-paced environments.
- Proven track record of building and scaling internal systems, workflows, and operational tooling that drive measurable business impact.
- Experience leveraging AI/LLM technologies to automate workflows, improve operational efficiency, or build internal tools and agentic systems.
- Strong understanding of modern operational tooling ecosystems, including platforms such as Salesforce, Retool, workflow automation tools, and data infrastructure.
- Technical fluency with systems architecture and automation development, including working knowledge of JavaScript, Python, SQL, APIs, and AI tooling ecosystems.
- Strong analytical and operational mindset with the ability to use data to inform strategy, prioritize investments, and measure business outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively across highly cross-functional environments and align technical solutions with business strategy.
- Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, drive alignment across stakeholders, and lead complex initiatives from concept to execution.
- Strong ownership mentality with a bias toward action and a willingness to operate hands-on when needed.
- Excitement for building the next generation of AI-native operational systems and workflows.
