Job description
- Build and own production ML systems: lead the full lifecycle from problem framing to deployment for systems that run daily at scale.
- Partner across the business: collaborate with marketing, analytics, and engineering to align objectives and deliver reliable production systems.
- Improve experimentation and measurement: develop smarter, faster methods to validate ideas and quantify impact before and after production.
- Communicate data stories: present findings, trade-offs, and recommendations clearly to technical and business audiences.
- Raise the bar: mentor scientists, drive adoption of modern AI tools, and champion standards for rigor, reproducibility, and documentation.
Requirements
- Master's or PhD in a quantitative field (eg, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science) or equivalent experience.
- 6+ years (Master's) or 4+ years (PhD) of experience applying machine learning to real-world problems with production-ready systems that deliver measurable business impact.
- Proficiency in core ML methods (supervised, unsupervised, statistical modeling) and depth in at least one relevant area.
- Strong experimentation and statistics fundamentals for designing rigorous experiments and producing reliable analyses.
- Fluency in Python, SQL, and distributed data processing (Spark/Databricks), solid software engineering practices, and familiarity with modern AI development tools.
- Leadership in cross-functional ML projects, aligning stakeholders on metrics and timelines, and clear communication to technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred
- Deep knowledge of constrained optimization, operations research, or budget allocation methods for balancing reach, relevance, and return on investment.
- Deep understanding of causal inference and experience applying observational techniques to measure incremental effects.
- Experience with CRM personalization, loyalty marketing, incentive optimization, or customer retention systems.
- Experience with deep learning, reinforcement learning, or multi-armed bandits in real-world decision systems.
- Experience with customer lifetime value modeling, churn prediction, or propensity scoring.
- Hands-on ML production practices: CI/CD for ML, model monitoring, observability, and automated pipelines.
Benefits & conditions
Compensation: The base salary range in Seattle is $173,000.00 to $242,500.00, with potential for up to $277,000.00 based on performance.
