As a Cybersecurity Engineer, you will help design, implement, and improve security controls across infrastructure, cloud, applications, networks, and identity environments. You will work closely with IT, security, architecture, and business stakeholders to reduce risk, improve detection and response capabilities, and ensure that security is embedded pragmatically into day-to-day operations.
Responsibilities

- Design, implement, and improve security controls across infrastructure, cloud, endpoint, network, and application environments
- Support vulnerability management activities, including assessment, prioritisation, remediation follow-up, and risk reporting
- Contribute to the implementation and optimisation of security tools such as SIEM, EDR/XDR, IAM, firewalls, cloud security controls, and monitoring solutions
- Support incident detection and response by helping define playbooks, escalation flows, investigation steps, and lessons learned
- Collaborate with architects, IT teams, developers, and business stakeholders to embed security-by-design principles into projects and operations
- Translate technical risks into clear, decision-oriented recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences
- Contribute to compliance and security governance activities linked to frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST CSF, CIS Controls, OWASP, and NIS2 where relevant
- Identify risks, dependencies, and improvement opportunities within your scope, and propose pragmatic mitigation actions
- Coach junior colleagues or client team members on cybersecurity good practices, documentation, and delivery standards
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in cybersecurity, security engineering, infrastructure security, cloud security, SOC engineering, or a related technical security role
- Hands-on experience in at least one cybersecurity domain, with a good general understanding of the wider cybersecurity landscape

- Hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas: Infrastructure and system hardening, Network security, Endpoint security, Identity and access management, Cloud security, Vulnerability management, Security monitoring, Incident response, SIEM, EDR, XDR, firewall, IAM, PAM, or vulnerability scanning solutions
- Understanding of security controls such as access management, logging, encryption, backup, segmentation, secure configuration, and monitoring
- Familiarity with cloud security concepts across Azure, AWS, or GCP is an asset
- Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and standards such as ISO 27001, NIST CSF, CIS Controls, OWASP Top 10, or NIS2
- Ability to document security findings, technical risks, remediation plans, and implementation choices clearly
- Basic scripting or automation knowledge, for example Python, PowerShell, Bash, or security orchestration tools, is an asset
Soft Skills
- Trilingual proficiency: Dutch, French, and English
- Excellent communication and active listening skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
- Ability to simplify complex cybersecurity topics and create clarity
- Pragmatic, structured, and delivery-oriented mindset
