Job description

As our Senior Technical Architect for AI and Agentification, you will lead the design and delivery of intelligent, autonomous agent systems that power the next generation of our services. You will serve as the technical authority across AI architecture decisions, from foundational model integration to multi-agent orchestration at scale - while staying deeply connected to the engineering craft., * Architect, design, and oversee the end-to-end delivery of AI-powered agentic systems, multi-agent pipelines, and autonomous workflows at enterprise scale.

  • Define and enforce architectural standards, design patterns, and best practices for AI and agentic engineering across the organisation.
  • Lead technical strategy for the adoption and integration of agentic frameworks (e.g. LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, OpenAI Agents SDK, Semantic Kernel) at our client locations in UK.
  • Conduct architecture reviews, proof-of-concept work, and hands-on prototyping - writing production-quality code where required.
  • Evaluate and select AI/LLM providers, tooling, vector stores, and orchestration platforms with a clear commercial and technical lens.
  • Drive best practices in observability, safety, evaluation, and responsible AI for agentic systems.
  • Mentor senior engineers and act as a key technical voice in engineering forums, RFPs, and client engagements.
  • Stay current with the rapidly evolving AI and agentic landscape and bring strategic recommendations to engineering leadership.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of total hands-on experience as a software developer and/or architect across complex, distributed, or enterprise-grade systems.
  • 2+ years of direct, hands-on experience designing and building AI Agents and agentic systems using production agentic frameworks.
  • Deep expertise in one or more of: LangChain / LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, Semantic Kernel, OpenAI Assistants/Agents SDK, or equivalent frameworks.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript; comfortable writing, reviewing, and debugging production code at the architecture level.
  • Proven experience architecting systems that integrate large language models (LLMs) - including prompt engineering, RAG patterns, fine-tuning strategies, and tool-use / function-calling.
  • Solid understanding of cloud-native architecture (AWS, Azure, or GCP), containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes), and modern DevOps/MLOps practices.
  • Experience with vector databases (e.g. Pinecone, Weaviate, Chroma, pgvector) and semantic search at scale.
  • Demonstrable track record of delivering AI-powered products or platforms from concept through to production.
  • Strong communication skills - able to articulate complex technical decisions to both engineering teams and senior business stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.

Desirable / nice to have

  • Experience with real-time or event-driven agent architectures (e.g. Kafka, Pub/Sub, or streaming pipelines for agentic workflows).
  • Familiarity with AI safety, alignment principles, guardrail frameworks (e.g. NeMo Guardrails, Guardrails AI), and responsible AI practices.
  • Contributions to open-source AI or agentic projects, published research, or active presence in the technical AI community.
  • Experience in regulated industries (finance, healthcare, legal) where AI governance and compliance are critical.
  • Exposure to enterprise data platforms, knowledge graphs, or enterprise search as part of agentic architectures.
