Job description
We are seeking a passionate and experienced frontend engineer with a strong focus on resiliency, real-time responsiveness, and seamless integration across web and desktop platforms to join the Prepared team. This is an opportunity to join a growing engineering team (currently ~60 engineers) and make a large impact while operating with a high degree of autonomy and ownership.
While most legacy software in 911 centers is clunky and outdated, we are dedicated to crafting seamless and intuitive user experiences that support the critical work that our users are doing every day. This role is pivotal in driving the development of scalable, reusable, and high-performance user interfaces. You'll work closely with design and engineering teams to craft delightful user experiences while ensuring that our codebase is clean, maintainable, and future-proof.
This is a hybrid role, with an expectation offour days per week in our Manhattan office. What You'll Do
- Collaborate with designers, product managers, and other engineers to translate complex user requirements into performant, intuitive features.
- Drive the adoption of best practices in front-end development in order to meet the high-resiliency needs for complex and mission-critical systems
- Heavily influence architectural design and implementation of scalable and reusable front-end systems using React.
- Analyze and address architectural challenges, such as state management, rendering performance, and scaling complex UIs.
- Contribute to and advocate for front-end testing strategies, ensuring high-quality code through unit and integration tests.

Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering industry experience, with at least 3 years focused on designing and engineering user-facing features and interfaces
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Proficiency in React and TypeScript
- Familiarity working with GraphQL APIs
- Deep understanding of front-end architecture, including state management (e.g., Redux, Context API, etc.)
- Desire to work in a fast-paced and dynamic startup environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working closely with product and design teams
- Our team is leaning into agentic software development workflows, and we're looking for engineers who have experimented with-or are enthusiastic about embracing-AI-augmented ways of building software

The starting base pay for this role is between USD 141,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 216,600 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
