Job description
- Serve as primary point of contact for technical issues related to the Data Center
- Work quickly and efficiently under pressure and in situations of server/hardware failure
- Respond to service tickets and requests for assistance in the Data Center in a timely manner
- Work closely with the customer and IT team to troubleshoot technical issues and determine the most efficient path to solving the problem
- Maintain a well-organized, orderly, clean data center and all associated work areas
- Deal with all hardware associated with the Data Center, including: Rack and stack servers, manage cabling activities, replace network cards, swap hardware
- Follow and update standard operating procedures to ensure efficient problem solving, In accordance with New York City's Pay Transparency Law, the base salary range for this role is $115,000 to $150,000. Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits.
Requirements
- 5 + years of Data Center Experience, financial services or telecommunications preferred
- Degree in relevant computer-related field (EE, CE, CS, Telecommunications etc.)
- Deploy and manage cabling (copper, twinax, aoc, and fiber) ensuring clean and organized layouts
- Manage rack-level power distribution and ensure best practices for load balancing and redundancy
- Experience in dealing with problems at the intersection of hardware and software
- Have foundational networking knowledge and basic commands
- Demonstrate working knowledge of Linux systems and basic command line operations
- Use cable testing tools and equipment to validate and troubleshoot connectivity
- Coordinate shipping, receiving, and inventory management
- Engage and manage smart hands support as required
- Communicate clearly and effectively with internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders
- Utilize ticket system for tracking, task management, and workflow coordination
- Strong attention to detail
- Safely lift and move equipment up to 50lbs
- Valid driver's license and car, willingness to travel within the tri-state area
