Job description

We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for an onsite System/ Network Administrator to join our dynamic team in Linthichum Heights, MD!

Keeping our systems, technology, and employees safe is a key priority for ViaSat. As a cleared IT Administrator, you will focus on providing technical and cybersecurity support for Viasat's Information System.

In this role, you will get to: Manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems and COMSEC devices; be responsible forIT system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems; provide technical and user support for several stand-alone, LAN and WAN systems; maintain records of HW/SW revisions, perform various configuration management activities,virus updates, account management, etc., ensuring all actions are documented as required under RMF standards and company policies. You will take part in audits and self-assessments, contamination cleanup activities related to possible computer security violations/incidents, respond to queries and requests for computer security information, and support various levels of activities for Viasat remote cleared facilities. The day-to-day

  • Perform various configuration management, system/network maintenance, and account management duties.
  • Maintain change management records, security audits, and logging information on all classified networked and standalone systems, reporting results to the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM).
  • Participate in cybersecurity and continuous monitoring, analysis, and response activities.
  • Ensures systems are operated, maintained, and disposed of in accordance with the governing authority guidance and customer directives.
  • Listen to the needs of our customers and work with stakeholders to provide quality and prompt support, escalating opportunities for improvement to team leaders and our DevOps team to enhance operational efficiencies and minimize security risks.
  • May from time to time provide support to the local security representative.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of additional experience.
  • 6+ year of experience administering and securingLinux (e.g., Red Hat, Ubuntu); Windows Server (WIN 10/11, Win Server 2019/22/25); Active Directory; logging and monitoring, file systems, group policy, backup management, and other systems administration.
  • 4+ years in DoD and industrial sectors; skilled in DoD RMF execution, system hardening, and continuous monitoring using industry-standard tools (e.g., Nessus, Splunk, Trellix ePO, Tenable.SC, etc.).
  • 2+ years of experience configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting classified networks; with confidence in IP routing, subnetting, as well as configuration, keying, and upgrading Type 1 encryption devices.
  • Strong skills in research, critical thinking, and analytical reasoning to address troubleshooting and develop recommendations for continual improvement.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal skills to deal courteously and effectively with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
  • DoD 8140.01 Certification (CISSP, Security+, etc.).
  • Ability to lift and carry IT hardware and peripherals.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret.
  • Travel Required: 10-25%, depending on the business need.

What will help you on the job

  • Experience managing NetApp or other centralized storage solutions.
  • Experience with Juniper, Palo Alto, and Cisco network administration.
  • Experience with OpenShift, LXD, Docker, or other virtualization/containerization solutions.
  • Knowledge of scripting and automation/orchestration solutions (i.e., Perl, Bash, PowerShell, Ansible, etc.).

Benefits & conditions

$121,000.00 - $191,000.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $150,000.00- $225,000.00/ annually
