Job description
This is a highly responsible position, suited for an experienced and certified security professional, assisting the Irving city government build a proactive and defensible data and network security posture and afterwards monitoring and maintaining it. Duties include developing security awareness training programs for city employees; and monitoring and analyzing cyber events and making recommendations for mitigation strategies to combat security vulnerabilities and/or breaches through actions, audits, reports, policies and best practices. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining cybersecurity strategy, including recommendations, policies and procedures. Duties will require a high level of professionalism; and the ability to clearly communicate and influence; and create and make presentations to various employee groups to better inform the city organization on security strategy. Requirements
that the City is constantly prepared to respond appropriately to any security event. This position will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Masters degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, mathematics or another related field of study; and, four years of related experience in LAN/WAN design, system/network administration and support, and systems programming) are required. Experience working with SQL, firewalls, Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDPS) and or Host Intrusion Prevention System (HIPS) signature development is preferred. Certification equivalent to CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, CEH, GSEC, etc. is required. Both a résumé and fully completed application must be submitted in order to receive consideration. Duties involve access to sensitive Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS), which requires that a thorough background check be conducted. Candidates will be subject to a criminal history check. Must not have any criminal conviction above the grade of a Class B misdemeanor or any Class B misdemeanor within the past 10 years; other convictions may also be considered.PAY GRADE IT31 / FULL PAY RANGE $9,604 - $13,542 PER MONTH
