Job description
The Principal Software Engineer will lead the development of next-generation software solutions for cochlear medical devices across desktop and mobile platforms. This role will drive innovation through mobile-first design and AI-enabled capabilities, while ensuring continuity of current applications, * Lead end-to-end development of Windows and mobile (iOS/Android) applications.
- Architect and implement scalable, high-quality solutions using C#/.NET/ WPF and modern mobile frameworks.
- Integrate AI-driven features and intelligent functionality into applications where applicable.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate development, improve quality, and optimize workflows.
- Advise technical direction, architecture, and long-term evolution of key platforms.
- Engage in full software lifecycle: requirements, design, development, V&V, and release.
- Mentor engineers and drive adoption of modern engineering practices.
- Ensure compliance with medical device regulatory standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of software development experience with strong system design and architecture expertise.
- Proven ability to deliver complex, high-quality commercial software products in production environments.
- Strong proficiency in C#/.NET and modern software architecture patterns.
- Experience developing mobile applications (iOS and/or Android) and using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., code generation, automation).
- Exposure to AI/ML technologies, including AI-enabled features, frameworks, or cloud-based AI services; experience in regulated environments (e.g., medical devices) is a plus.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and debug system-level issues across teams.
A minimum of 200Mb/sec download and 10Mb/sec upload speed internet connectivity is required to support any remote/hybrid employee functionality at Sonova

This role's pay range is between $131,560/yr - $197,340/yr. This role is also bonus eligible.
