Job description

  • Analyzing, evaluating, and integrating solutions to unusually complex technical problems based on broad objectives from management

  • Encouraging optimum design within customer specifications, quality standards, schedule, and funding limitations

  • Performing complex analysis on projects or major phases of significant projects to enhance the technical and economic development of the product and/or service

  • Resolving a variety of technical problems leading to advanced engineering studies designed to increase efficiency or reduce costs

  • Developing and delivering complex technical presentations to senior management and customers

  • Leading major program and/or design reviews and major proposal activities

  • Representing the company as a prime technical customer contact on specialized projects or programs

  • Interacting with senior management and customer personnel on significant technical matters, advanced technical research studies, and applications

  • Providing functional and technical guidance to engineering staff and management

  • Acting as a technical project lead on advanced specialized projects

  • Developing new customer contacts in related technical areas

  • Identifying expanded/additional tasking with existing customers and defining complex technical requirements for draft statements of work

  • Planning detailed system test, integration, operation and eventual system retirement

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline
  • Eight years of demonstrated expertise in systems architectures, system design, development, test, and evaluation
  • Five years of experience in working with system engineering, requirements management, and architecture tools such as CORE, Rhapsody, MagicDraw, OPNET, NETWARS, DOORS, Requisite Pro, CaliberRM, and executable Unified Modeling Language (UML)
  • Experience in theoretical and practical aspects of specifying, designing, implementing, and managing systems that poses qualities such as portability, scalability, and interoperability relevant to the specific technical disciplines
  • Experience providing requirements definition and initial design of any system under consideration while providing support for the follow-on detailed system development, alternatives investigation, and continuing assessments related to the system under development
  • Understanding of system lifecycle model such as Vee Model, software methodologies such as Agile, system risk management, and Systems of Systems (SoS)
  • Demonstrated ability to produce strategic plans, systems specifications, design requirements, and test and evaluation planning
  • Experience performing analysis of hardware specifications to resolve complex problems in the development of laboratory systems and applying systems engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, test, or evaluate existing projects
  • Demonstrated ability to interface with the Government to develop and support technical positions, to justify technical publications
  • Experience writing technical publications
