Job description
Primary Purpose: To assist and support the classroom teacher in the teaching/learning environment through the use of computer assisted instruction. RESPONSIBILITIES: Major Responsibilities and Duties

Assist teachers and students in the operation of all computer equipment and Integrated Learning System (ILS) programs in the CAI Lab.

Understand and utilize the courseware content, software, scope, sequence, and enrollment criteria in the ILS CAI Lab.

Assist in the goal setting process for identified campus populations using the ILS Lab.

Work cooperatively with teachers to identify student placement in instructional software.

Generate reports regarding student progress and organize results to facilitate instructional decisions.

Assist in delivering individualized courses to students, organize and monitor instructional systems use and develop lab motivation systems to accelerate student educational gains.

Input data and maintain files on student progress and use of instructional programs.

Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.

Help with inventory, care and maintenance of classroom equipment/materials.

Perform computer backups and install a variety of computer programs as needed.

Manage student behavior in the CAI Lab.

Engage in activities which promote communication and understanding between school and community.

Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.

Participate in the ILS and other training workshops as required by the principal or designee.

Attendance at work is an essential function.

Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee.

Requirements
Minimum Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Title 1 Funded Campus: 48 semester hours of college coursework from a regionally accredited college or university OR meets NCLB requirements for Highly Qualified Paraprofessionals
- Non-Title 1 Funded Campus: 15 semester hours of college coursework from a regionally accredited college or university OR two years of full-time work-related experience with students in an instructional or child care facility
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Constructive and cooperative attitude toward the duties of the aide, the school, the staff and the students
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Knowledge of basic computer operations and skills
