Under the direction of the Information Technology Supervisor II in the Technical Management Operations Branch, the Information Technology Specialist (ITS) I is responsible for planning and implementing virtualization and cloud technologies, cloud storage, Microsoft technologies and server platforms, remote access solutions, file and print services, data backup and recovery, wired and wireless network infrastructure technologies, and VoIP communications systems. The ITS I implements new information technology and solutions based on technologies that may not currently be in use in the Department. These technologies include, but are not limited to, cloud computing, system automation, and new tools and capabilities to further support the Department's program functions. Ensures the interoperability of departmental and state enterprise systems to deliver the technology and services needed to support the Department's program functions. Consults and advises on the complex information technology systems support cases to ensure the continued confidentiality, integrity, interoperability, and availability of these systems department-wide, while maintaining user satisfaction and acceptable service levels for systems and services provided by the Information Technology Services Division (ITSD). Functions as a team lead on large projects and serves as a technical subject matter expert. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Implement New Information Technology Systems: Identifies and documents system requirements by collaborating with project stakeholders to analyze information, problems, practices, or procedures to ensure the IT solution meets their business needs. Designs the information system by referencing and applying applicable DOR, State, and industry standards and best practices to develop a robust and secure solution. Builds and tests the proposed system by working interactively with project stakeholders and ITSD team members, to uncover errors and bugs that require resolution prior to implementation, and to validate the system requirements, security, performance, and usability. Documents and trains technical staff on how to use, operate, and maintain the systems to provide for a smooth and successful final implementation. Deploys IT solutions to the production environment by coordinating with stakeholders and ITSD team members to ensure the system is stable and operational. Provides technical leadership to subordinate support staff on more complex server and application issues and provides liaison functions to technology management staff. Identifies and prepares comprehensive analyses and makes recommendations to resolve issues pertaining to the efficient operation of all data center services provided to agency staff. Systems Maintenance and Daily Operations: Maintains, manages, and operates all DOR server, storage, virtualization platforms, and wired and wireless network infrastructure by staying current with supported hardware and software to meet departmental and industry standards. Updates system documentation and applies software and/or hardware updates as needed, to ensure the continued confidentiality, integrity, and availability of these systems. Administers and maintains all aspects of the DOR's Active Directory infrastructure by working with ITSD and other business units to identify additions, changes, and deletions to users, security groups, organizational units, and group policies. Delegates administrative rights to ensure proper access, authorization, and authentication services are provided to the Department. Monitors the wired and wireless networks using provided tools and works with field support staff and external service providers to troubleshoot and recover from connectivity issues related to these services. Technical Support: Provides advanced systems and network technical support and problem resolution to first- and second level ITSD support staff by identifying problems, determining root causes, evaluating and prioritizing solution alternatives, and implementing the selected solution to maintain customer satisfaction and ensure acceptable service levels. Technical Skills Development and Continuing Education: Continuously develop and enhance core management, IT skills and knowledge by ensuring thorough familiarity with the available tools, methods and procedures to complete assignments, research, investigate, and keep abreast of trends in IT, attend training, conferences, and webinars. Under Government Code 14200, this position is a hybrid, in-office/telework position, and may be subject to change. Incumbent must live and work in California. Incumbent can be required to report to the office, or any designated location at any time. Telework agreements can be modified and/or cancelled at any time. Requirements
Do you have experience in Stakeholder management?, The majority of the work will take place in one of the following locations with consumers, the public, colleagues, and other stakeholders: a DOR open office setting in a cubicle environment, offsite in the community, at events and various partner locations, and/or at an approved alternate work location. The incumbent must have the ability to work in an office setting for up to 40 hours per week and remain at a workstation for extended periods while utilizing a personal computer, peripherals, and other office equipment with or without accommodation. The incumbent will be working in an office setting with both natural and artificial lighting. Strong interpersonal skills are required to interact effectively with consumers, the public, colleagues, and other stakeholders. Position Details
